I learned a lot of things academically and socially
Our finance department consisted of 3 departments;Revenue, expenditure, debt collecting and case management i worked a bit in all of them but currently i'm in debt collecting and i learned a lot, i've always thought Government hospital provide their services for free to every one but i was wrong. Their patients are classified according to their salaries per annum, that determines how much a patient must pay for the different services rendered at the hospital. I attended certain training sessions that helped me a lot. As a debt collector my clients were Government institutions e.g; Correctional services and SAPS i submitted invoices to them and follow up for payment purposes, then allocate the payments by coordinating the payments from the BAS system and the Remittance advice. i enjoyed travelling to different prisons for submissions although it was scary at first, because i thought inmate might harm me but i got used to them and enjoyed doing my work.
Pros: you learn a lot about different sections within the hospital and how they operate develops career opportunities too
Cons: we're exposed to many different sickness, there's always a lot of pressure

An amazing learning curve with the exposure and eagerness to learn
A financial Clerk working from 7.30 AM to 4 PM I have a very positive relationship with my co-workers , and we interact very well with them in the working envirnment. Its been an amazing work experience because my theoritical part of my course didn't cover some of the aspects I have learned. Even though it is a public instutute , I have learned that you still pay in a public hospital for services provided. How to open an actual debtors analysis statement even complyling financial statements What I enjoy the most its almost everything that I do but what takes the cup is whereby I have to reconcile our statements together with our consumers(patients) , suppliers and liabilities. What can be challenging about this job is that our resources are limited and rotation takes time to take place. System relies strightly on manual and work takes time to be done
Pros: An opportunity for growth and promotion in a long run that suits my qualification, can be a Financial Manager
Cons: Long Hours with no offs exept weekends

Good learning opportunity and at times challenging
Very hectic place to work at with hectic hours but with the right attitude work definitely gets done. I have a good relationship with my colleagues, and we are able to reach our goal at the end of the day. I have learnt being a team leader you need to be fair and firm at all times. I enjoy communicating with the patients and mostly helping them. The most challenging part of it is running after the Doctors and reminding them their job, what to do and what not to do in order to help the patient. But I learn every day and I appreciate that.
Pros: Excellent opportunity for self development
Cons: Shortage of staff members
