Great learning experience

Whilst I was at SS Trading, I compiled Safety files , conducted continious Hazard identification, risk assessment before employees start work, She internal audits, develop emergency plan, conduct full incident investigations, carrying out safety toolbox talks, Attend weekly progress meeting and reporting of safety statistics for the week, every week to the client. I work very close with construction manager , construction supervisor and safety representative I learnt how to run a mutiple sites without having a manager, learnt to take decisive site decisions Without a manager. I Enjoyed being in the center of all operations and being helpful to my manager and supervisor where they need assistance. The most challenging aspect was to do all construction work in a crowded areas, where there is high volume of traffic, working in the CBD where there is chaos and streetkids Working in areas where there underground cables that are not listed on the maps

Pros: Great learning experience
Cons: Once the we start to pull the cable, we can't go home before it is in the ground

Great Experience

A typical day would have started off with inspections of all the vehicles, doing risk assessments, splitting the teams to each project. My day was about meetings, in-house training, keeping staff records updated, attending meetings, completing tenders, flying to the different sites keeping the staff training updated. Compiling of SHEQ Files, writing safe work procedures, polies, quality manuals, I enjoyed all the staff from the kitchen staff to all the directors, everyday was a challenging in construction each day is not the same. I have learnt from all the different supervisor in each field, from cable work to monopoles,

Pros: I was at the highest level i could have been at the company,
Cons: it is a family business and not everyone has the same values
