Great experience overall. Exposure to all aspects of the manufacturing business.
Things are very interesting in SRSA right now. Since the Japanese giant Sumitomo took over, the factory has undergone a major transformation. I have been in the think of things being a member on the Product Development Team. The product range has doubled in the past 3 years, with that came a lot of challenges and a lot of great victories. I got to understand the importance of proper planning. The best part is always received a technical instruction confirming that a certain project has been approved by QA to go into production. The people are great, friendly and easy to work with. I am particulary not impressed with management in terms of talent recognition and and having the right person to do the right job. It gets frustrating when you have passengers in drivers seats, which has been a case a few times in my experience there and this makes the job almost impossible and its very draining when people pass the ball instead of working to improve things they just shift responsibility.
Pros: There is scope for growth.
Cons: Too much politics

Great working Environment
Working at Sumitomo Rubber South Africa is great because of the great skilled people and well advanced Technology that has been implemented. It's a safe working environment with minimal risks of injury. The most challenging aspect is to work long hours with minimal pay. The things I enjoy the most is making sure that the company rea he's daily tagerts on production and on waste.
Pros: Learning opportunities
Cons: Working Long hours with low pay
