Great First Exposure
Each day starts at 06h00, departing from the workshop by no later than 07h00. Arrive on site, conduct Toolbox talk, Safety Induction & Risk Assesment and Work Delegation. Manage all aspects of site, both on and off site. Supervise labourers, complete daily site report, time & attendance, invoicing. Should the site require more materials or tools, purchase orders should be submitted to purchasing department. Report to Operations Manager for debriefing and status update. Site Managers can exchange questions and answers to better understand and implement foreign tasks. I have gained experience in mostly waterproofing, having worked with acrylic and bitumen products. I mostly enjoy travelling to various sites and seeing projects to their completion. The most challenging aspect of the job is the slow turnaround time, between ordering materials and receipt of the goods, as it results in penalties and standing time.
Pros: Great first exposure to the industry.
Cons: Long turnaround times in purchasing proces.

Excellent learning curve
A typical work day at Thusanang Gast. I start at 07:30 every morning but I arrive a bit early to enjoy my morning coffee outside, chatting with co-workers. Each day is a new challenge and we all need to spark to get the work done. I enjoyed the pressure and stressful environment. The most challenging part of working at Thusanang Gast was dealing with suppliers who has not been paid.
Pros: Fun and supportive co-workers
Cons: Poor management
