Excellent skills enhancing opportunity
Working at an fmcg company has taught me to deliver precise and satisfactory results timeously, it has taught me to well as an individual and within a team giving me exposure to the manufacturing industry and giving exposure to the Hplc and Aas and trouble-shooting on bot instruments. I have worked 2 major projects within the company and with leading brands within the country. It has also taught me that I have to produce prescice results as an analyst in order for the company to manufacturer the best possible products for its customers. I enjoy working on instrumentsas well and research as I know that it improves the work and gives solutions to problems.

The key reason for the existence of this role is to plan, direct and coordinate interventions and plans aimed at customer relations oriented sales and service within specified region (Gauteng, KZN, Cape, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Botswana) in order to maximize TH Starch sales and profitability and ensure customer satisfaction.

Some of the highlights i have made at tongaat hullet starch
I have enjoyed a progressively responsible engineering career with Tongaat Hulett Starch and participated in the engineering of three major project i.e. ion exchange plant, commissioning of filtering plant and low moisture starch production system. I am experienced in all phases of process optimizations, project management and process modifications, from conception to production stages. Most recently, I have successfully run a projects which was aimed at reducing the amount of total dissolve solids in effluent discharged into the water treatment plant. In addition, I have served as process engineer in establishing standards that have reduced costs, enhanced efficiency, improved production methods and simplified equipment and part needs.
Pros: i have started within the entry or lower level position in the company, through my dedication and hard working I then get promoted to different positions and at the same time impowering my knowlege with studies.

Great working experience and leaning curve
Tongaat Hulett Starch (Meyerton) is the company that utilize the maize kernel to produce starch, germ and husks. The produced starch can also be converted into syrup. My duties as QC technician were to analyze all the final products ( starch, syrup, maize germ, and husk) to see if they meet both national and international standards or customers expectations. I've learned the values of good laboratory practices (GLP) and various instruments used to analyze the final products. I have also acquired knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001, 18001, 17025, 14001OHS Act and also SHE-Q audits. This company has taught me a lot, like working with a team and without supervision. It has been exciting to go to work everyday because of the friendly environment that I had. The job was challenging but manageable. During peak season, we would work even on our tea time or lunch time until we help all our customers. All in all i enjoyed every minute of it.

Gaining experience while learning.
On daily basis I run the plant, take samples after every 2 hours, If we are encounter problems with the product I take them hourly, if I have assignment given by my manager or engineers I do them. During a challenged day I work hand in hand with my coworkers, I help where I can as well. I have learned how to work in a team, how to start up and shut down the plant, how to analyze samples, how to Handel chemicals and learned about health, safety and environment, house keeping to avoid injuries. The most challenging part was to unblock pipe lines, and to do you assignment which will have deadlines while running the plant and taking samples after every 2 hours.

Learning and skill develop curve
Developed SAP and Excel skills Friendly environment open office Have never had a quarrel with my colleagues Challenge by internal delays in resolving issues I enjoy being the manager of my desk the most.

Excellent company to work for
Daily banking and payment allocations, customer queries, credit notes and allocations, daily invoicing and distribution to customers, releasing orders, new credit applications, ITC report, credit risk assessment on new applications, bank codes, monthly statements.

Company is well reputable and a good company to work for.
The organization is family oriented with emphasis on work life balance. The culture is static and fairly adaptable. Decisions are very fluid they are done with changes with demands and pressures from internal and external climate. Growth opportunities are very minimal as organization has very goat structures limiting promotions.
