I learnt a lot while at the ARC. It is time for me to grow outside of my comfort zone
the past 5 years at the ARC have been great , i managed to move to senior levels twice and it has been an honor. it is my sincere feeling that i would like to grow outside of the ARC horizon and learn from a different sector as oppose to the Agriculture that i now know and have learnt for 5 years.
Pros: staff treated equally
Cons: little room for growth

Experience of note

Pros: - I got offered a contract as an impression of my work.
Cons: Long hours but not enough time for the amount of work because of understaffed

Good learning experience
lovely atmosphere and good learning experience. People have a good attitude and are always ready to assist when faced with a problem. A Typical work day alternates between the laboratory as well as the office for admin work. its been a rewarding experience to learn about wine yeasts as well as wine making. The most highlight is the attending of the Cape Wine academy course which has greatly enhanced my knowledge about wine
Pros: Great place to learn
Cons: no cons at this work place

Good place to get experience across different scientific principal
I worked at the Institute for close to 3 years. I learned that the different departments involved in crop protection, crop information and crop management go beyond the lab itself. I learned to work with limited resources at times and produce and improve my work standards in the process. I believe I left a good impression with the workings I was fortunate to have worked with.
Pros: Great opportunity to learn abot Agriculural Practices
Cons: short staffed

Excellent learning curve
We have a great relationship as co-workers on a social basis. But, when it comes to required work, it seems other co-workers are not motivated or simply do not care that their inputs affect positively or negatively the next person’s work. I have learnt and gained experience in project management. I can run a full project cycle now. I can lead a team of junior and senior researchers. I enjoy field work a lot. This gives me closer understanding of reality. Consequently, I enjoy the analysis of the data collected. The relationship between technical and research staff can be very challenging. Support staff are decision makers and not the researchers thus creating a misskew of organizational manadate.
Pros: Great opoortunity for further studies
Cons: Long turn around times
