A typical work day includes foreign exchange dealing and cash management. The Treasury space also comes across many projects which include facility negotiations on behalf of business units and the analysis of cash forecast to ensure appropriate funding levels as well as analysis of financials for covenant reporting. I work with great people who are willing to share information and teach. I have learnt a lot about facility agreements, negotiations, trading and having worked closely with Finance Directors of business units, I have learnt what they look out for when it comes to funding their businesses.

Best experience I've ever had
Most roads in South Africa has speed humps and stop signs but it's never the end of one's journey but to slow down and pass slowly,same applies with my work experience, it has never been easy but through working hard and committed to my work I've learned a lot,safety as the priority, it's always good to meet the target of production but it's another blessing to achieve it without any injury sustained, accuracy and time management always having them at the back of my mind that company is not charity for relaxing but business for production,Anglo Platinum has taught me exactly that.

Anglo American is a leader in Enterprise Development and experience gained is vast and invaluable
It has been great worrking for the Company like Anglo American with their vast exposure and experience in the mining industry. The drive on enterprise development at Anglo American is huge an having had the chance to work with them as the catalyst when it comes to enterprise development an an advaned model to the field has imparted a lot of knowledge. The expertise in the company with with regards to enterprise development is without doubt first class and have learned a lot in my 5 years with the company. Given a chance, i will be glad to share my experinces and knowlege with anyone.
Pros: Learning is vast and experience gained is beyond reproach.
Cons: Working in the mining industry has been difficult given the political cloud around it.

Good
As a rigger at this company we carry the mine with safety everyday.We do all monthly inspections and rescue all mining e quipments to the safe place.We assist at the plant and workshops.

Stable workig environment
The company is well structured in terms of policies, the changes in mining industry country wide has affected tge company and the way we work is no longer healthy for a person in my position. The comany is trying to adapt to the industry demand by cutting down aggressively on labour while increasing /promising to increase in production. The labourpractice and policies are still the same, the compulsory training courses increased, so the reduced amount of people left are further reduced. The whole workload now rests with the supervisory level to produce with very little resources. A typical day for an engineer is filled with meetings , normally between 60% and 70% of the time in a day is in meetings, the only time available for section engineer to work is after hours

Cons: Not listened to, being a section head meas nothing anymore

My work experience and learnings
My work is office bound and visit the operation site when a need rise. I have got a very supportive team that collaborate well when making job related decisions. I have grown a lot since I have taken my responsibilities in terms of work load management as well as people management. I enjoy interacting with different characters and meeting new challenges every day. the most challenging aspects of my job striving for the reduction of incidents that are competency related.
Pros: Great opportunity to work with a lot of people, external training providers and other stakeholders.
Cons: Attending to matters that are not related to my area of responsibility.
