Working at Kleinkopje as a Mco
To whom it may concern A typical day at Kleinkopje colliery is to be early for work! You then need to get a report of all the breakdowns and services of the previous day, so you may analyse what went wrong and how to prevent future repeats. As an official it is imperative to hear from the artisans and gain perspective from them as to what the problems may be. The people on the floor are hands on and can give a good description of what went wrong. I am currently doing the maintenance plan for our draglines and drills, and this is a continuous learning process. I love working on these huge machines as our dragline is the biggest in South Africa, with so many different components you need to stay on your toes the whole time.
Pros: Great for learning new skills and applying them
Cons: Chances for promotion are limited

I'm looking forward to work Monday to Friday and can work extended hours if necessary depending on work load. I really a team player because my current job involves working with a team. I enjoyed competing with the teams from other department because that's were I learn most of things. The most challenging aspect of the current job is to attend the call outs at night and as a women I really feel that it is not safe at all
Pros: The company value women because the most are occupying senior positions

I like to plan my day because that helps me to achieve my goals. I am an excellent team player and strongly believe that teams must work together but also have fun. My relationship with other people are grounded and I have the emotional maturity to overcome any obstacle with grace and dignity. I do well under pressure and will walk the extra mile to meet our objectives. For me it is important to meet deadlines and to follow up with customers. I like to be part of a solution and not part of a problem and therefore I will always try and put controls in place whenever a problem comes up. Payroll is very challenging and meeting deadlines will be the biggest challenge on a daily basis. Also making sure we pay on time and that our output is accurate at all times. Taking in consideration that we have a role to play in other peoples financial difficulties, I do take my role in payroll very serious.
Pros: Different exposure and new ideas from my previous employer. I am glad for the new view on payroll functions and also getting to know different culture from what I was used to.
Cons: Not being in a position where decisions can be made on things that do not work. Have great ideas but it is not really recognised.

we hold quarterly achievement braais and have safety competitions.When one finishes over three month without an absent.,he/she stands a chance of winning a R2000 voucher with second place getting R1000 and the third winner getting R500.
Pros: Safety bonus.,incencitve bonus
Cons: shift work.,no development

I love my job very much but now I want new challenges.
Am a qualified electrician working for Anglo American,I have worked underground for 5 yrs it was very much challenging and then I went on surface to work at the plant doing the very same job. for me it is no longer challenging that is why I want to change.

Large company with the normal corporate challengea
Anglo is very political and there is a great deal of games and power struggles on the go at any time. The situation is constipated and stiffeling. My experiance was not very positive but i did learn a great deal about big corporate challenges and what i do not like.
Pros: You will learn a great deal about power struggles people politics.

Excellent company but in deep operational and financial trouble. Need to cut all costs...
Excellent company but too many ivory towers and empires that add layers of paperwork and zero value add tasks and duties. Anglo will need to continue agressive cost cutting and realignment to get to a profitable operational model.
Pros: Large organisation with excellent resources
Cons: Way to much red tape. Difficult to get things done and sustaining momentum.

I have commissioned 6.6 KV substation and tailing dam re-mining plant
To ensure that employees'working environment it is safe, conduct audit and enforce compliance. Through experience i have learnt how to set goals and how to engage in action oriented behavior. Empowering employees by developing them in their career and maintain good relationship with employees. Resolving engineering breakdown and conducting preventative maintenance . The challenging part is when employees are not adhering to safety standards and procedures, but such situation give me an opportunity to engage more with employees to resolve misunderstandings .
Pros: To grow in the field of engineering project management and engineering management.
Cons: Working long hours, but when I am given a task I will ensure that I complete any task assigned to me.
