Through my studies, training, and internship programme I have gained relevant experience in financial and asset management. Therefore I believe to be a suitable candidate for this position since I possess all the necessary qualifications and knowledge to perform my duties in an effective and efficient manner. As indicated on my resume I have good exposure on the City of Joburg nature of business with regard to Asset management in accordance with GRAP standards. In addition, I have demonstrated abilities to work under pressure and independently, to work hard and professionally, and to act with accuracy, honesty and integrity. Furthermore I would like to point out that I am well equipped in advanced computer skills, MS Excel, MS word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and SAP (asset management module).

Excellent learning curve
Working with this company I have gained more experience especially on how to deal with different people/client. How to control anger and how to approach different colleagues. The Transport department exposed me to many responsibilities like Procurement, recording and keeping records, How to work with spread sheets as well as controlling of stock.

Great Opportunity Given
Performing administration duties, doing procurement of goods and services, i.e. capturing purchase requisitions and orders, stock requests on SAP.I have a good relationship with my colleagues not only in the finance unit but also other units.I have learnt to work under pressure and also to work in team and individual. The challenges that i came across was that in inadequate planning and the linking of demand to the budget,Developing strategies to engage effectively with Indigenous suppliers

The work varies from day to day, as it involves managing activities that affect the built environment. The work entails me having vertical, horizontal and lateral relationships with co-workers. I have learnt that inputs from other professions are profound. the challenging aspect of my job is to make people buy into the bigger picture

My experience at City of Joburg
A typical work day is never the same. Work processes are haphazard as processes are not fully streamlined. Working with politicians come with major pressure and can be challenging as one has to deal with groups with competing expectations. My relationship with co-workers was cordial as I always try to maintain a professional distance. I learnt to deal with different personalities and it has enhanced my overall work experience as I now have experience having worked in the Private and the Public sector. I believe that I am a seasoned and well rounded Company secretary as politicians often display their ego which one must often deal with . I enjoy working with By-Law implementation and anything to do with procedures and Compliance related issues. The most challenging aspect of my job, is Public engagement as we get to deal directly with the Public whenever we need to consult the Public on issues which are topical or emotive at a particular time.

Typical work content
Hostile and challenging labour environment with staff compliment of 33000 employees and highly unionized. Currently responsible for the reintegration of employees of various Municipal Owned Entities back into the City. Previous involved in merger of different Municipal Owned Entities and the leader of the employer delegation at different bargaining structures. The position require a strategist, critical thinker and an innovative and flexible individual.

Typical work day
A typical work day. I get along with everybody. I have learnt a lot while working in a clinic - I assisted the sisters with patients and learnt how to identify really sick patients. The most challenging aspects of the job is the constant "run-around" when acting as Operational Manager

All in all it is a great organisation and it needs one to be open minded.
it's a great company as the chances of being retrenched are very slim,and it pays 60% for your medical aid.there's vast different department to move to in an organisation but it is manipulated by nepotism and bribery(jobs for money) ,although it over-flock with customers during cut-off i feel municipality does not emphasize on customer service, the moral of the staff is very low as the organisation is too politicized and who ever is on the helm want's to bring in changes just to show-off their political organisation muscles at the end staff members suffers as changes is the order of the day even if it is unnecessary.
