Working at this department was one of the stepping stones that helped me be where I am today

Work started at 7:15everyday and I knocked off at 2:30. We are a group of 52 teachers in a very big school which has more than 1500 learners and we are like a family. We call ourselves happy people. Looking for a job that will give me the chance and opportunities to express and use my talents and skills fully. I enjoy a challenging work environments. I have learnt to work under pressure and in unpredictable environment mainly shaping the young minds. I also learnt to work with stakeholders from different spheres of life. I also learnt to meet deadlines.

Pros: Many holidays
Cons: No opportunities for promotions

Excellent work experience

We are always busy working overtime to reach th expectations. The job that I'm doing is very interesting,I learn new things every day as I am working with finances. Team work is very important,it helps a lot .I learn from other people in order to improve my skills . I have learnt a lot from my job, financial skills and public finance management act. I also learnt that filling is more important in every organisation. one should always keep record of the work done. Respect is more important in a work field in order to achieve excellent results. Telephone etiquette is more important in every organisation and the attire does count. We are always professional.

Pros: great learning area
Cons: long working hours

Excellent

I work at the Department of Education (Examinations and Assessment Section) in Pinetown as an intern. I work with one of SES, and we work with 68 schools and circuit officials. While she does school visits, I remain at the office capturing the school analysis, schools audit. When it time for the exams, We conduct a workshop to train moderators and we invigilate schools when they are writing. I work with the most organised person ever. We have a good relationship. We work from 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Friday.

Pros: To work permanent
Cons: To be allowed to work overtime

Excellent skills in training and development

It is a very big department and the job I do can be done by 2 to 3 people. We are understaffed and the department does not advertise more posts. I work perfectly well with my subordinate but not too good with my supervisor because we disagree on most things she does. I have acquired more skills and knowledge in the training and development unit and I also facilitate some trainings in the department and other departments. I also work with experiential learners and the work is very challenging as I have to monitor all of them.

Pros: Development can be there if posts are advertised
Cons: Sometimes I don't do lunch to get the job done

Wonderful industry of work

Work environment was too busy. Different people comes in everyday. The is always a new challenge. We were able that handle every situation as a team in the department. It was interesting to work with people. What I learned is to be patient with the people and handle them the best way that suit them. In the beginning I was too shy and was able to handle by time.

Pros: Great work experience.
Cons: Limited working equipments.
