A typical work day Interacting with management and staff/contractors on a daily basis. Ensuring safety targets are met at the end of shift. Availability and utilisation targets are met. Conduct over inspections on machinery . Parts availability and budgeting. Daily scheduling of Artisans to perform daily maintenance and attend to break downs. Attending planning and strategy's meetings. Your relationship with co-workers Excellent relationship with co-workers What have you learnt To stay professional and firm when it comes to ones work and also to give your all. What you enjoy most To be productive and to interact with co-workers to do problem solving and to reach my objectives. The most challenging aspects of the job When subordinates or team players does not want to play they part and when any unnecessary injuries occur.

Hard worker can and whant to work long houers

I love working on petra diamonds every day is a challenge and the people there . at this stage I'm doing all the spares, planning and orgenising the parts for all the underground trackless machines. all so reliving as a alternative forman .

Pros: very good envirment and lots of chalenges
Cons: no bonus , no medical , no housing and i must comute 120km perday to work and back.. and thers no personal career grouthe in petra diamonds

SECURITY OPERATIONS, INVESTIGATIONS AND INTELLIGENCE

I am a 40 years old South African male who has 19 years security related experience both in Industrial security and Mining security. I am qualified in the field of Operational Security and Security Intelligence. I am currently holding a Degree in Security Risk Management from the University of South Africa and currently studying towards my Masters in Security Risk Management. I am currently working for Petra Diamonds SA as a Regional Intelligence Coordinator for the Northern Region responsible for 4 Mining Operations and Two offices. Beside what is indicated in my resume I am a dedicated individual who is self-driven. I am able to work under pressure with calm and able to take necessary decisions having considered all possible outcomes and repercussion.

WORKING AT PETRA DIAMONTS IS REALY A LEARNING CURVE,WHICH CONTRIBUTED FARERLY IN MY INTIRE LIFE .AND THAT IS HELPING MY ABILITIES TO DEVELOP GRADUALY AND IT ALSO HELPS ME TO LEARN NEW DIFEREND THINGS FROM THOSE WHO ARE ALSO TEAM MEMBERS IN THE TEAM THAT IM WORKING IN.THE MORE I WORK IN THIS ENGINEERING TEAM IS THE MORE I LEARN DIFIREND PERSPECTIVE OF LIFE.THAT IS THE REOSON IM CONFIDIENTLY PRONOUNCING IN WRITING THAT TO LEARN FROM THIS MENTIONED TEAM ITS REALLY THE PRECIOUS STONE THAT I WILL ALWAYS NEED TO CHERICH.

Panctuality

a typical work day was challenging and enjoyable, the reason being, i had good relationship with Co-workers. i have learnt to work under harsh conditions . further-more, the work was enjoyable and interesting especially on the production line, it was very helpful because i learned how to work fast and making quick decisions. the most challenging aspects of the job, was immediate break-downs which often causes delay. the company has taught me a value of discipline and dignity

Excellent learning experience

Started as sorting plant and mobile machine operator. Left job and started afresh and got a learnership and studied and operated a metalurgical plant. Qualified as foreman and loves problem solving as it gives me the opportunity to prove myself. I have astouned myself and management and i train my staff and everyone that needs my help. It is adrenalin working on a problem and achieving success.

Pros: Get noticed for hard work and dedication
Cons: You have to study to get promoted

Ive learned alot and could study further

Petra Diamonds mining industry is a very competitive industry. I ve learned a lot and study further but I need now new challenges. I've worked on a lot of projects and gained a lot of knowledge of budgets how to motivate people and built a strong team. learned Excell advance, RCat, VIP and AccTech, Chief safety officer, Project management

Pros: gain alot of experience
Cons: long hours, no promotion

Good exposure towards mining industry

good place to apply your skills. working with good team of different characters. excellent place to experience on building, construction and installation. Hard times when coming on to targets and schedules.

Shiftboss for Production

I'm having more than seventeen years working underground as a Production supervisor, I like respect and team work to form strong team on Production. Safety comes first for health and safety of everybody. I'm working underground as Shiftboss at Koffiefontein presently, I can handle any stress under my position and to face any challenges concerning my work related. I like discipline to the team. And I'm ready to work extra hours.

Pros: To be HOD
Cons: I can work long hours if ask to do so with my HOD.

Career development

Working hours is 9 hours , overtime is not compulsory.Its a small company with less than 1000 permanent employees at all 4 group level.People know each other as most are local employees.What I enjoy most is the time and opportunity given to study to advance your.Challenges is to manage difficult people who don't accept change.

Pros: Study opportunities, working hours, lunch breaks , safety orientated.
Cons: Salary, areas of work.
