Learning curve
I really do enjoy my work. However would like to get a more secure job as mining isn't so stable. I deal with workers leaves and sick notes and must give them days of when they ask for them to go home. There are more forein workers then South Africans so they need more days to go home then any other normal South African
Pros: Room to grow
Cons: Can lose my job any time mine run a lose

It was good to gain that experience I did.
It was good gaining the experience I did, learning all I've learned. And having to work with my hands was a great opportunity. I learned how to fix pumps, and motors. I used to a waitress before the learnership and met new people everyday. So it was good to see and met people in a different environment.
Pros: It was an interesting experience
Cons: The days were long at times and straining

I volunteered as a wellness officer and it has been a wonderful fullfilling experience.
I take a pride in my job, I am a hard working , career driven individual , I work well when I' m under pressure. I am very patient. My job required me to work with people from different backgrounds, I worked mainly with underground worker its not easy to get some people to open up I had to establish trust more and keep the working relationship professionally. We had to organise awareness campaigns relating to their jobs , social life, sex life and their health. I enjoyed presenting campaigns and debating the ideas with my fellow colleagues, it was a wonderful experience. Can't wait to get a new challenge.
Pros: great opportunity to learn about mining industry
Cons: not being paid

New mining career path
With the skill I have acquired in the mining industry, I strongly believe I will be of great value in the company. I currently have a Mining Engineering degree obtained in the University of Witwatersrand and 5 years experience working in Sibanye Gold Limited. I have acquired the following qualification and certificates: • Mining Engineering Degree • Rock breaking certificate • Production supervisor certificate • Intermediate certificate in mine environmental control I worked in Sibanye Gold Stillwater for 5 years and I had the chance work in different positions during my graduate programme. I assumed positions as a miner, production supervisor and a ventilation officer. All three positions encouraged me to adhere to the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Minerals and Petroleum Resources and Develoment Act guiding mining companies.
Pros: opportunity for growth
Cons: long hours
