No learning curve
There is no learning curve , no new things to learn , because in SAPS organisation you are not allowed to come with your way of doing things or to be creative on doing things the way you understand , a person have to work according to their national instructions.T he relationship with my commander's is very good , they also motivate me to apply for better job since I have qualifications. No challenges in every day job because I same thing every day . I learned what finance is all about and the thing I enjoyed most is to attend management meetings learning management skills and also presenting budget report to the resource committee meeting.
Pros: The problem you an employee can jump to other rank he/she must go rank by rank. And promotoon take time because the Tate have financial constraints due to civil claims
Cons: Working hours are normal , because we work 8 per day

I work as a Contract Administrator
I enjoy my job very much because every time it comes with new challenges which makes you to research and consult in order to be in lign with the prescript. I manage and monitor all contracts that SAPS has awarded. Any query or amendment, price increase, poor performance are done by my office. I also manage cotract register, tender register, opening of the bid box, opening of bid to check for the necessary documents before handing them to the relevant section. I am also the secretary of the Bid Adjudication Committee, where I minute all decision taken and record the meeting, ensure that all members have sign the declaration of interest. Ensure that the prescripts are adhere to. Also manage the resources that are allocated to the section. My commanders are very helpful and they allow you to work independent only when you have a challenge thats when you can engage with them.
Pros: The pros in my current employment is that you do not have a routine schedule. You receive new challenges every day. As Division Supply Chain Management were responsible for the resources of all Police. Starting from uniform, equipment and vehicles. We must ensure that we maintain the emage of SAPS. Ensuring that there are resources when needed and adequate training for members. All of this is done through SCM prescript as we are governed by National Treasury.
Cons: The cons in my organisation is corruption and you will find that in some instances service delivery is compromised in order to satisfy their own interest.

My typical day at work
My typical day starts with monitoring electronic and print media. This would determine if there is something to respond to or write a letter to the editor or to task a subordinate. My office is spontaneous, in that, I would receive a request for a speech or briefing document that is required within a set time frame. So, meeting dealines is part of my job. I relate well with colleagues and subordinates; and I give credit to interpersonal skills that I have honed thorugh a number of years. As a wruter I learn new things every day, from a client's personal preferances to new register and ofcourse the hurdles one has to overcome to get hold of relevant content for each specific assignment.
Pros: I have been in the same level for almost six years now and I am seeking an opportunity to grow in my career path and do something new.
Cons: I always ensure that I start and finish any assignment and start the next day on a new slate. As a person with a journalistic backround, one never expect to be paid overtime nor demand rest days for having worked beyond office hours.

Management of budget and HRD coordination
I have learnt the dimensions of HER being an ETD and HRD Practitioner, Training Officer and Skills Devepment Facilitator, it has been a long journey of discovering my passion for training through trial and error that taught me credibility, hard work, team spirit, to work under pressure and continuous development of my skills, knowledge and attributes. I have learned to take spontaneous decision in the process of training delivery especially managing employees and getting work done despite our differences. I have learnt listening and interpersonal skills, and conflict management with the sound understanding of diversity. The training arena has been exciting in its complexity having to learn new things from time to time. It has kept me enthusiastically embracing new trends locally and internationally.
Pros: I have been promoted to different positions
Cons: I know that travelling, long hours of work, relocation and meeting deadlines are part of my job

Client service management and support
Public service and administration could be found to be very challenging, although there are constant governmental changes, I still strive to opt for the best outcome. I refuse to be the last to learn and would rather take on the challenge than just let go. Building relationships with current coworkers is a daily challenge and one that I am always open to. Presentation and attention to fine detail is what draws my attention to most projects I enjoy working with the various departments and find it almost sinister that I am to build relationship with that so called challenge. I thank you.
Pros: I would wish to be promoted into a senior post
Cons: The police service has many employees, rank matters

Good stable career if you have a passion for it.
One must be mentally strong and able to deal with a lot of pressure from both internal and external forces. The straight and narrow is the only path to take even though there are a lot of temptation and sometimes very blurry lines but, if you play it buy the book you can keep yourself and others out of trouble and out of harms way. Passion can't buy bread or milk but it is a Pre-requisite!
Pros: life-long career and lots of diversity and experiences to be had
Cons: Politics, rank structure and slow growth

Career development and greener pasture
I was appointed as an official police official within South African police service since 2006 January 09. I worked at visible policing till 2011. I had a chance to showcase my ability when I was sent to act at MANAGEMENT INFORMATION CENTRE (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENT) from 2012 to 2016. 2017 I was transferred to Crime analysis (Statistics and Performance environment) until today. With the same salary not more than 17000 a month. In saps Junior levels, any gap you are told to fill for free.eg I'm 3 years you can rotate at logistics, HRM, Store room, Finance, Secretary, fleet, switchboard and back to charge office. I grabbed as an opportunity to gain experience. Because I cannot afford to study further, I took every transfere and re-deployment for experience sake. I dreamt of been Technology Analyst. I enjoy anything to do with computer system, anything to do with technology, anything to do with researching internet, anything to do with an Ique.
Pros: Exposure, well placement and equivalent leaving wage.
Cons: To work smart not to work hard.
