Great place to have started my journey in terms of career

I am currently part of a tax compliance risk unit, we identify risk in four areas i.e. registration, filing, declaration as well as payments. That involves a lot of financial information analysis, from Annual financial statements to the use of third party data. Financial analysis involves analytical review procedures, inspection of support documentation by different taxpayers and evaluation of accounting procedures used to prepare the financials. The working environment is great as we work in teams in an open plan environment. The managers are approachable and are willing to assist with projects initiated by their subordinates. I have learnt to take initiative since we are encouraged to think broad and come up with more relevant ways to deal with compliance.

Good learning experience

A normal 8 hour job with occasional time pressure to produce results. Mostly self driven. Excellent people who are always willing to help and willing to involve me in special projects. Great exposure to tax legislation and administration. The most challenging aspects for an aspiring chartered accountant are only in operations and Investigative audit.

Pros: Exposure to the business at large and not only one aspect
Cons: Not enough challenging

Learning opportunity

I have learned a lot in the few months I have been working here. It has opened my train of thought as well teach me work skills I did not previously have. My colleagues are very well efficient make the work environment a learning environment

Excellent working experience

I have It was an excellent work experience that to took 11 years,working in different environments and lessIt was an excellent work experience that to took 11 years,working in different environments and less opportunities to improve on self skills. Management is not that interactive with subordinates and cahin fo command when coming to information lacks alot. opportunities to improve on self skills. Experience on unrelated field

Learnt about tax related issues which I had no knowledge about before.Co workers & managers very understanding and helpfull. Much pressurised environment as we attended over 1000 clients per day.Interacting with different kinds of clients.

Excellent learning curve

Challenges differ from case to case. Ranges from simple to complex cases. Good working relationship with colleagues. I enjoy know sharing with colleagues. Learned: Assessing Auditing Quality Assurance as prescribed by the Income Tax Act

Excellent learning curve

It is great working for such a big organization, I got a lot of exposure within the finance and taxation department. I had worked on challenging and not so challenging tax audit cases
