Exposure to different perceptions

Given the size of the entity and the fact that all of the employees in various reason consult with regional coordinator for their queries, one gets to deal with different personalities. The vary from professional perspective to personal ones with no consideration of professionalism. Being exposed to such environment forces one to grow personally and professionally. Improves the communication skills and sharpness ones decision making. Accurate decision making comes easy as ones mind has been trained to understand the impact one decision will have not only to the entity but to the economy of the country at large as a public figure. Thus a typical day at SARS is never standard, there are interesting and new issues continuously.

IT taught me good people skills

It is great working for my company but the reason for me wanting to leave is due to the fact that there is no room for growth. My work day is busy and challenging. I work well with my co-workers I've learnt a lot, I'll need a book to write down all I've learnt, but most importantly, I've learnt how to treat people,I enjoy helping sort out any problems/issues. The most challenging part of my job is if clients do not respond to notices...etc

Skills advancement

I've learnt to work closely with my co-workers, communicate effectively and learn different types of tax and their legal perspectives. I enjoyed working with our clients because they challenge you to learn more and gain a lot of knowledge. The most challenging aspects of my job is tax law changes and difficult clients.

Pros: There is a room to gain knowledge in the tax field
Cons: Development is limited.

Good learning experience

A normal 8 hour job with occasional time pressure to produce results. Mostly self driven. Excellent people who are always willing to help and willing to involve me in special projects. Great exposure to tax legislation and administration. The most challenging aspects for an aspiring chartered accountant are only in operations and Investigative audit.

Pros: Exposure to the business at large and not only one aspect
Cons: Not enough challenging

Learning opportunity

I have learned a lot in the few months I have been working here. It has opened my train of thought as well teach me work skills I did not previously have. My colleagues are very well efficient make the work environment a learning environment

Best working enviroment

I was on a 6 months contract with SARS. I was a good working enviroment, great manager and team. I learned a lot in short space of time. The was a lot of work to do but through planning my day and a lot of descipline I managed to my job very well and be productive. One of the highlights of working for SARS was the appriciation showed by our managers for the effort we were putting in our work.
