I learned how to apply Metallurgy concepts
I was working as a student. My key responsibilities were quality control of rolling stock components. I was also conducting failure analysis. Every batch of components relieved for quality control tests would be brought to me by my supervisor. I had to register the batches in the company database for future reference. With the help of my coleagues, I would have to conduct the following tests, guided by company specifications: Microscopic examination, macroscopic examination, tensile test, impact test and hardness test. Once the tests are all done, it was my responsibility to generate a conformation report which would be signed by me, my supervisor and the company manager. The report normally stipulates whether the component is acceptable or has to be rejected depending on the results conformance to specifications.
Pros: Exposure to numerous applications of Metallurgy
Cons: N/A

Very dynamic,educative and exciting
It is very dynamic because im working at central operations, the challenges differ from day to day and deviations are a guarantee.Sometimes we are given work sometimes its just one of the lazy days but the company has room for potential growth,I just feel that the talent there is not used to its full capacity (young professsionals in training and graduate interns). I love the company and the fellow colleagues are very friendly and often assist us.
Pros: Job Security
Cons: Waste of human capital
