Good exposure
Working at Transnet Port Terminals has improved my knowledge as an electrical engineering student. I have learnt a lot such Safety regulations, report writing and fault finding procedures such: diagnose, fault find and repair the findings. I had a great exposure where by I have to rotate to all the sections working with different people with different personalities on different machinery learning their operation and how to maintain them. I enjoyed electrical Motors and Auto Transformer testing. As well maintenance of the electrical motors, installation of lights. The most challenging part of electrical engineering is when there is a breakdown you have to fault find and the machine is on operation and you have a lot of pressure and I have to compile a report about the breakdown and submit to my supervisor.
Pros: availability of training programs for employees
Cons: high rate of contractors than permanent employees

Good learning curve
The typical work day is to discuss plant issues that happened previous day. Interact with external and internal suppliers via SAP. Plant Reliability. The relationship with co-workers is fantastic, the workers are the good people to work with. I have learned the importance of sticking to the principals and facts to resolve the disputes within the organization. What I enjoyed most in previous job, was the platform whereby we review plant design against the plant performance. The most challenging parts were disciplinary actions that needed to be taken against the infringements.
Pros: Great opportunity for growth
Cons: lack of resources

Job objective review
The position carries the objectives of ensuring that Transnet Port terminal is adequately protected against inherent risks. I trained new claim officers appointed. Providing direction and advice on daily basis. I am safety conscious and consider myself well organized. I am reliable and get along with my co-workers. I am enjoying to work with all claims officers across, as am leaning from them. I am the kind of person who is loyal to an employer and I can always be counted on as I wanted to get exposure at commercial department as I am finalizing my degree, but my manager does not want to release me. I normally follow the appropriate channels and policy of my department or company. Favourite parts of my job included the ability to work independently (trust from employers) & the people I worked with. Challenges aspects Late reporting incident. Pressure received from claimant to settle claims.
Pros: It is good company as it give employee oppurtunity to grow
Cons: this company give individual flexi hours so you have time to do your work according to the time and manage your work in an appropriate way

I would love to learn what your company is about and be a part of the development.
I work in a fast pace environment its a 24/7 operations environment, where i support the system that handles all the equipment and cargo that enters, leaves and is stored within the ports of South Africa. If the system has a problem and the company cant perform operationally the problem sits with my team to sort out. It can be very stressful to support a Terminal Operating System and also perform upgrades and system enhancements as per the business request through the change management processes we have in place. I have built a strong relationship with the users of the system Nationally because we also provide training (UAT etc), not only the users but also the major stakeholders that are all affected by the system.
Pros: I bring a strong personality that bonds people
Cons: Perfectionist

Excellent and challenging learning curve
I worked straight shift from 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday. I enjoyed working working with everyone as i used to rotate around different electrical departments at the terminal. I always found it easy to form relationships with people and adapt. I learnt the important skills of fault finding during breakdowns and also on faulty machinery. I learnt how to perform planned maintenance and also having to Google foe the latest technology at our industry. What i enjoyed nost was to meet new challenges all the time on different departments and having to come up with solutions to solve the problems. The most challenging esppect i came across was to get other employees who have been working af the industry for years to take my advice or solutions to a problem at first hand. But at the end of the day when someone is right they are right. We'll always come back to the same solution.
Pros: Great opportunity for promotions
Cons: Straight shift
