Department of Education Reviews

Teaching

Government schools are mo longer safe for Educators. I have been affected and now currently displaced due to Political instabilities. The school has no formal security measures, At random anyone can enter the school and victimise anyone and police station is over 40km away

Pros: Fulfilment of uplifting a young mind
Cons: Vulnerability of Teachers

Gaining experience the hardest way

Working as an intern is emotional draining because you get to do a lot of work and paid peanuts. I have been doing internships since 2015 until today there’s no promise for a permanent post. For a breadwinner like me it’s frustrating and emotional draining. I enjoy being a social worker and I’ve gained a lot of experience which I am grateful for.

Pros: Gaining experience
Cons: Low salary

Successful journey

Working for my current Department is an honour as I have learnt how to work with different types of people from different types of background,I have a really good relationship with all my colleagues, besides being colleagues we are family after all.I enjoy engaging with my learners all the time and would even spend weekends and after schools with them, doing extra work, that's how I put my effort to my work.My current job is not having any serious challenges that one cannot deal with,I need more challenge ,I need to explore in other companies,I want to learn more,i think i have learnt what i needed to learn in the Department of Education and need further exposure.

Pros: Getting to know people's different type of behaviors.
Cons: Wouldn't say I have any cons in my workplace

Excellent learning curve

accepting applications, help with interviews and screening, write appointment letters, call successful candidates, maintaining candidates database, we can work as a team, i enjoy helping educators and make sure their process of being appointed is being processed, the most challenging part about the job is when the documents of educators are not complete and the employment process is slowed down.

Pros: great opportunity
Cons: not rotating on the job

Excellent platform to advance my skills and experience

Great working place, normal working hours from 7:45 - 16:15 with a 45 minutes lunch break at 12:30 - 13:15. I dealt with issues of Teachers at different levels All my colleagues were so friendly towards everyone and they were very helpful in terms of passing important information to me as i was a In-service trainee. They treated me well and they made sure that they encourage me to always be friendly towards clients and all the staff members of other departments. I learnt not to let emotions control me because that affects my work productivity and that lead to me not reaching my set goals. I also learnt that i must always be professional, friendly, productive and always meet deadlines.

Pros: Great Opportunity For Me To Advance My Skills And Experience
Cons: Short tea time breaks
