Department of Home Affairs

On a typical day we would go out to trace, arrest and detain illegal foreigners in the republic. Open criminal dockets if they are illegal at saps. Go to court and testify and give evidence. Investigate and interview foreigners who are suspected to be illegal in the country. Assist saps with regards to investigation if a foreigner was involve in criminal activities. Plan and do operations with internal and external stakeholders. It is important that we work as a team as we worked without firearms and in an dangerous environment. It is important to trust each other. I enjoyed working in undercover operation with stakeholder where a few foreigners were arrested for Bribery on different occasions. The most challenging part is conducting your daily work and the resources is not enough and have a target to reach.

Pros: leave days. annual bonus
Cons: Working overtime and not getting paid for it.

Pros: At home affairs there was good opportunities due to lack of funds they didn't manage to advertise vacant post to fill them

Job security

A typical day involves article writing and editing, planning events that our Minister can host which involves a lot of logistic co-ordination. Many of the people who I work with and interact with are not enthusiastic or motivated in their roles and that makes it difficult to work with them. They lack creativity and are not interested in doing things differently as they believe it will create more work. I most enjoy seeing the impact that we have on communities and wish there was more that we could do.

Pros: Opportunity to study further
Cons: Creativity is styfiled

To be better Industrial Psychologists

Presently at Home Affairs I have been deployed at a satellite Forensic (Government Mortuary) I capture the death certificate of the deceased ,I am dealing more with the Undertakers. At the big office I used to work with the foreign nationals who where applying for different types of permits and those applying for the permanent residence. The section was moved out Office and Privitized. Then I started working at the front desk registering the children and issuing of birth certificates, marriage and death and also assisting the clients requesting papers or old documents at archives. Challenges in a my work #is difficult clients #non appreciating clients Relationship with co-workers I am a receptive and tolerable individual and I am also co-operative

Pros: To see myself being delivering the good work prescribed or the objective to be achieved
Cons: Long working hours With remuneration for it

Pressurised and excellent learning environment.

I have extensive experience of more than 10 years in health and social research, monitoring and evaluation and reporting. Over time, I have strengthened analysis, data management, report writing, presentation and communication, negotiating skills. I can confidently communicate and make formal presentations in high level forums and governance structures. Organising and coordinating high level meetings i.e. quarterly reviews and special meetings convened by the Director General and the Minister. Team work and working extended hours is core to the type of work I have done over the years. Pressurised environment and good learning environment.

Pros: Pressurised, pushed to learn fast, ever occupied environment
Cons: Pressurised and crisis management mode in most cases

Excellent learning curve

it is very interesting cause every client is different no matter how similar the type of application they might be doing.it has taught me to be empathetic and to think on my feet there be standard operation procedure but as you go along you strive to give the client the desired outcome therefore you have to come up with creative ways of doing just that.i am always ready and willing to help out therefore in a day i could be working three different positions if we are short staffed.i would like to believe that i have reached the roof as far as solving problems there is nothing challenging in a day anymore for me

Pros: ther aren't any
Cons: long working hours and saturday
