Department of Labour Reviews

Snr Employment services Practitioner

i Have gained more knowledge and practical experience in terms of labour laws and compliance issues. A Typical work environment includes interacting with our clients which are the unemployed as well as Employers who require our services and intervention. The relationship with my co-workers is good, it is what keeps me going even when I feel I frustrated but what I enjoy most is the feeling of fullfillmet when I have helped an individual, the positive feedback from a client makes me happy and willing to do more. The most challlenging aspect about my job is to be expected to perform in situations where there is no law supporting since processes within government are long.

Pros: Job Security, and the institution invest in its employees in terms of training and development
Cons: No opportunities for promotion

Amazing team work

I remember my first day at work , i felt right a home. Every single person was so welcoming and that made me less nervous and more excited. Working with clients can be challenging and demanding but it is always great knowing that you have helped someone in need. At work i am the youngest of them all but believe me when i say that its feels nothing like that at all, i am treated as an equal and i am respected. One of the valuable lessons i have learned is that one needs to listen and understand before they can take action because mistakes can be easily made. I am greatful for the relationships that i have with my co-workers, the stories that we have shared and the endless laughs. I am so grateful to have been working with such an amazing team.

Pros: Room for freedom of speech
Cons: Difficults clients

It was a great learning curve since it was my first job after my tertiary education.

The department was a great success and a great root of learning, because it taught me one that you have to be determined by the job you are doing. It taught me how to be patient and committed to my work. But most of all I was supposed to put all the clients first before anything because of it was part of my daily duties all I had to to was to apply the Batho Pele principle. The most challenging thing was to make sure that you assist all clients even if the system was offline because they will usually get mad and angry so that taught me how to manage my attitude as always. My experience with the department was good and all my coworkers were kind and friendly and always encouraged me to do what's best for the people, my reputation and the company.

Pros: A great opportunity to learn
Cons: Dealing with many people in a day.

Great learning curve

A typical work day includes receiving work from direct supervisor, dealing with queries and litigations. Data capture and communicating with clients, doctors and hospitals. I had great relationship with all my colleagues. I learned a lot since I started as an intern in the department, from receiving an invoice and capturing, processing and assessing the claim. I enjoy completing each and every task am given on time and doing it correctly. And also doing that am putting a smile on someone's face gives me a greatest joy knowing am making a difference in many people's lives. The most challenging aspect of my job is having to do deal with deadlines and finding that the system is either slow or down.

Pros: Great opportunity to learn about the medical claims insurance and growth.
Cons: System challenges
