Excellent experience working in different systems.
I report to a senior engineer. I make sure that subordinates they work safe as policy laid down. I learn how to manage and lead different people in different situation. I enjoy the field I am in because its my field as mechanical technician and I apply my theory from school in other situations. The most challenging its a cornfin space in the submarine and there are females working there sometimes they stragly to work in other places.
Pros: Promotion wise its quick but depending on my progress
Cons: Eight hours normal day and twenty four hours when I am duty after four days

I qualified as Auxiliary Watch Keeper 2008, I did my apprenticeship 2009 and qualified as an artisan 2010 (Mechanical Fitter and Diesel Fitter section 13 certificates , and Diesel Fitter red seal in 2014). I am currently working at Fleet Maintenance Unit under Mechanical workshop as a submarine technician.
Pros: Great opportunities for promotion
Cons: long working hours

Discipline
The safety of the submarine and personnel, the security of the submarine and equipment, doing a daily maintenance. My relationship with co-workers I very good. We respect one another, acknowledged the seniority. Discipline is very high in the military. I have learnt different systems that the submarine has so that in the near future can be able to operate it. I enjoy the life of being a sailor. The challenges are there such as I am not entitled to fix or repair electrical instruments as a qualified technician.
Pros: Opportunities are there just that we are many but it is up to each individual to fight the way up.
Cons: 9 hours per day

Pros: Great room for growth
Cons: Your views are disregarded when your are a in a lower ranking

Hounered to be part of SA Navy
My day to day work start with heads count at 07:30 then followed by planning meeting at 08:15. I really enjoy the company of my colleagues, they make life a lot easier as we look up for each other at all times. Being out of your comfort zone thought me a lot about being independent and perseverance. I like being travelling the world and sailing just became one of hobbies. The most important thing about my job is that my family really understand what's on the stake and they always support me at all time.
Pros: N/A
Cons: N/A

Most excellent learning curve, training and development.
I have gained experience, training at the company's expenses. I grew very well with the job with different people mentoring me. I have trained and worked with many different people and enjoyed every second of it. There were great opportunities and development up until I got to a point where I am.
Pros: Great opportunities to grow and gain experience
Cons: Working weekends and sometimes have to travel at short notice. As you grow development becomes limited.
