Good experience

I have spent the last five years learning many different skills. A typical workday consists of multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss the days activities and coordinate interdepartmental activities. It then moves on to a departmental meeting followed by getting on with individual work. The people at the mill are friendly and work well together for the most part. I have learnt how a business functions at different levels. I have learnt the main factors that influence whether a business is profitable and how alignment of employess with company values, goals and objectives is key to this success. I enjoy the type of people that I work with. The conpany hires good people for the most part. People who contribute positively. The most challenging aspect is integrating the knowledge learnt during undergraduate studies into the real world while learning to manage people; which is no doubt one of the most difficult things to get right.

Cons: No overtime, or time off for certain staff grades

Broaden my knowledge and skills - new experience learning new processes and technology

Tapeesh is a skilled SHEQ practitioner with over 10 years’ experience in production, safety and quality operations. His primary experience is within the paper and pulp industry with Sappi Saiccor where he has gained extensive technical training. He has shown versatility and a multi-skill set in being able to step into a HR role and in short succession, back into a technical role. Tapeesh is passionate about technical health and safety assurance and sees himself transitioning into a Production / Operations Manager role.

Good training company

I started to work at SAPPI from 2004 until current. Sappi is a good company to work for its gives adequate training and also promote their people. At SAPPI they also support the diversity and their management when making the decisions they made it based on facts not emotions or politics. To get to where I am today its because of SAPPI they build and grown me.

Qualified artisan as fitter and I also specialise on different mechines

currently working with maintaince crew we service filler traypackers and six packers depal;palletiser;conveyours;rinsers;and labeler iam good in all of this mechines the company even send to gerent for training iam a specialist on the labeling mechine and some times I stand in for my foreman and also conducts maintaince and shurts iam a hard working person,versitele and I diliver in time

Cons: it happened some days we work 24 hours due to big breakdown

Good learning experience

Filing, mostly administration work ,conducting interviews, attending disciplinary meetings is a typical day for me . Challenging, but a great learning curve and definitely great experience. Co workers are helpful. I've learnt to communicate with people at all levels , I enjoy interviewing , administration and disciplinary hearings the most . The challenging part is getting work done when there is alot of work but I set deadlines and achieve it.

Good company

Qualified mechanical fitter with 22 years of heavy industrial experience in sugar and pulp and paper and mining industries. Working as a mechanical superintendent. Responsible for the engineering team composed of foreman,fitters, Turner,boiler makers, riggers, lubricators and assistants.

Pros: No opportunity for growth
Cons: Low growth
