Excellent all round knowledge

When I was employed, a typical workday started off by checking all major IT Equipment if working, any alerts or errors. Visit the operations department staff to check if any issues been experienced with the system or equipment from the time I have been off shift until the time I am again on shift. Solve these issues as they arise. Go through e-mail to check on queries or follow up on any logged issues. Discuss with the Business Analysts needs for enhancements. This I find most challenging to motivate for a case for an enhancement in the software used. As money is involved here, each enhancement or fix needs to be properly motivated. I enjoy testing software to see whether they function according to the business rules. I have good relations with all my peers at SAA Cargo as well as all the contractors doing work for SAA Cargo. Although people may have negative opinions about SAA our culture was great. I have learnt how a complex organisation comes together for achieving a single purpose.

Pros: A great culture to work in
Cons: shift work

A day at work

It was great company to work for, they were equal opporunities for everyoneMy days there were blissfull from clocking in at the start of my shift we would do briefings for the day and going out to help people by checking in and bording the flight and everything else required before the flight takes off, my relationship with co-workers was the best we had our own work language to get us through the day and work together . I enjoyed interacting with passangers and being ble to help and give a great experience to passangers, the challenging part would be the times of the shifts we worked from starting at 4am to knocking off at 12pm and later.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours

Diverse opportunities

Shift’s are strenuous and most of leave days are spent unnecessarily. I had a great relationship with my colleagues as they would ask for my opinion most of the time and always encourage me in any aspect of my life. I enjoy helping people get the service and product they want as easy and comfortable as possible. Challenging as pacts would be the constant changes of the law that would make you disagree with customers as most information doesn’t reach us as soon as it should.

Pros: Opportunity to meet great people
Cons: No room for growth

As an Executive Assistant

I also strongly believe that there is nothing more powerful in any business than trust. It unlocks doors and is by far the most important element to anyone’s success. With trust comes respect, and how you earn respect is by doing what’s right, regardless of personal risk. Through my years of working experience, I have learnt that successful people embrace risk and learn from their mistakes. Staying safe does not promote personal or professional growth. Making a mistake is never a bad thing as long as you learn from it. You will never be measured or judged by a single mistake. The only people who never make a mistake are the ones who do nothing.

Pros: Personal growth
Cons: Company currently in financial distress
