Excucative learning and promotes the studies
Working for South32 is very nice and has supportive management. As a BTM( Breakdown Tracking Module) owner is very critical task and need lot of expertise and attention all times. Tracking the equipment failure and registering the failure as well as sharing the challenges of repairing to team to avoid some repetitions. As they says listening is a skill, giving you co-worker an opportunity to partake in decision making develop a trust which make the work relationship strong. The teams we worked together we strive a common one goal. A diversity company where you work with people with different culture and need to incorporate them , so as to work with one another to achieve common goal. Is very challenging where you have to bring different department together to do problem solving i.e. working with Maintenance (Boilermaker, Fitters ,Technicians, Electricians) and Process ( Operators, Controllers) .

Relentless Drive for Business Improvement, Building a coherent safety culture
One had the freedom to build a business from performing your duties and also appreciating the fruits of your hard work through great recognition. South 32 has provided me with the opportunity to develop my business skills through the Stellenbosch MBA Program and this has proven priceless in the day-to-day and Strategic decision making process. Material Risk (Single/Multiple Fatalities)Management played a major role and South 32 has imparted invaluable knowledge which will stand me good in the way forward. Our newly developed Asset Integrity Programme has had a great positive impact in running a lower cost operation and requires great dedication and commitment to the Life Extension Strategy. My biggest challenge is that through my own internal drive to achieve great heights, I expect much the same from my team. I have been through a rich transformational experience which has taught me the value of people in the business. The challenge has taught me that the “Business of Businesses is People”

I have enjoyed working for South32 Corporate Affairs for the past 4 years going 5 in March 2017. Our team has worked through cultural differences and successfully managed to compliment each member’s talent. Our Executive believes in the value of sustainable development thus making our programmes delivery effortless. Stakeholder and community relations requires strong people and conflict management skills in dealing with stakeholders from various industries including Government spheres. Strategies, policies and code of conduct inspired effective engagement and delivery of responsive development programmes. Excellent understanding of payroll
Execute all payroll related activities. Prepare payroll schedules and remittance and send to vendors. Assist exmployes telephonic or walk-ins Keep HRBP abreast in all the payroll changes

Exellent learning curve
Working for South32 developed me a lot in terms of knowing my work and acknowledging how to work with people. Pressure is something that you can't run away from but you learn from it. I enjoyed breakdowns because there was always a new problem you would find on that breakdown but all in all I enjoyed the time I spent there.
Pros: South32 is very good at developing their employees as wel as the community
Cons: Stand by was sometimes a challenge as you would be called in the middle of the night to come back for a break down

Learning experience
Good working environment but poor working relationship between executive and employee, I have not learned much less development opportunities and long hours shifts.
Pros: Lesser opportunity for promotion because they don't believe in developing employees at lower levels

Learning new things everyday, culture and people's behaviour
It is always good to work for a company that is eager to let you grow as an individual, allow career development. A well developed individual is like a well oiled machine and a happy EE is a productive EE. I'm one person who is so grounded, respectful and that alone helps me to have a great relationship with my colleagues and people in my class. I have learned that if you value someone opinions and give them floor to express themselves than you will have a safe and productive Team, and I enjoy working with other people and meeting targets. I hate shortcuts and people who takes shortcuts.

Dynamic work environment
Dynamic mid tier mining company. No day in the office is the same. Work in an open plan environment across multi disciplines (HSE) and assets (coal, manganese and aluminum). Great discussions and cooperation
Pros: Great work life balance
