Excellent learning curve
The University of Cape Town provides exceptional learning environment for students. The University provides a suitable environment for all temporary, permanent and casual staff providing career development. The usual day activities with other staff and colleges gives you the opportunity to interact with people from diverse cultural background. Although the challenging aspect of the working environment is the management not giving the internal staff the ability to voice their complains about their work ethics.
Pros: Good working environment
Cons: Long working hours

Excellent learning curve
I worked for an hour everyday of the week and my shifts were at different times at all times. I handled calls and delivered calls as well as transferring them to the warden or to Student Housing, I also went about sending emails and scheduling appointments, and singing in packages and visitors. My relationship with my co-workers was great because we always had to stand in for one another when the other could not make their shift, we got along very well and even brought each other food at times. I have learnt how to manage my time effectively and that the client is the most important or anyone stepping inside the business and residence, that I am there to serve them. Fulfilling my duties and the relationships I've built with my bosses and colleagues is what I enjoyed the most. The most challenging aspect of my job was having to be on call at all times no matter where I was.
Pros: Great flexibility
Cons: little money

Learning experience
My experience working at the university is getting to interact ona daily basis with different people students, parents and various stake holders for advocacy services, the experience shaped my communication skills because a lot of time you have to listen ,show empathy and be able to show initiative and solve students crisis on a case by case basis ,sometimes going the extra mile. Our office was mainly for allocating student accommodation. The role requires for one to pay attention to detail and be able to work well under pressure. We had to make good relations with faculty managers and other departments in order to provide information and contacts when needed. The experience has been a learning curve and has allowed me to grow professionaly.
Pros: Meeting new people
Cons: During registration office can get busy

Good place to learn and grow
A typical work day consists of meetings with the team and preparations for upcoming events. We have an institutional calendar of annual events which is signed off at least 6 months before. These events are divided between event coordinators to execute. I take on a project management role in ensuring that all events are executed according to University policy and within budget.
Pros: exposure to varied working environment and being involved in big events
Cons: long working hours

Good cable building skills
Greetings I work in very friendly environment sometimes we don't feel the pressure of dead lines for cables to be delivered. Challenges only happen when fix some cable defects because some steps are irreversible. I like analysing cable data pack and challenge some decisions made to my suoervisor. The company does also electronic warfare controllers but I have not be invited to be part of its construction. I feel bad about that because I have ND in electronics but now I work in cable building department. I want to develop my skills of interest. I work with good people.
Pros: nice exposure!
Cons: not challenging

My typical day at work is busy and the role is that of office administration and secretarial duties such as assisting with the coordination of events, P-Card clearance, record keeping, processing of payments, travelling arrangements, report writing, social media advertisement, etc. I have a great team and good working relationship. At first is was challenging processing some of the finance documents that adhere to the company policies as there was no on the job training. but managed to build resilience and self taught myself on how to effectively perform all the required work tasks.
Pros: field related and career advancement
Cons: The role occupied is no longer stimulating
