First Time Experience working with different People
During ushering we had to be working at 7:30 early in the morning already and we had a good relationship because anytime we could leave and go to class especially when it's not busy. I learnt that communication is very important because the people we had to meet were different and they were coming from different places and we had to equalize them. What I can say stood out the most for me was meeting different people in one day just like that and the feeling of being at work and seeing people smile because I am also smiling, and the food after a long day did the trick also. Challenges were obviously there because some people would not listen to me when I show them where to sit, and the standing for long hours also was a bit of a challenge but it was worth it. I actually noticed how much hard it is working and how beautiful it can be at the same time.
Pros: Food parcels
Cons: Working Long Hours

Excellent working opportunity
My boss is extremely helpful and approachable, which makes me feel comfortable at work. Work conducts various events which allows each one of us to bond and get to know each other. These events have allowed me to forge valuable friendships, which I will treasure. What I learnt I have learnt a lot from this experience. Firstly, my knowledge on the type of work that goes into the various aspects of Organising, Marketing and PR has expanded tremendously. I was also tasked to plan the UWC open day on behalf of the senior administrator manager conduct research. I had the opportunity to work on several projects with other departments such as marketing for UWC open day, organising and I have learnt that communication and teamwork are critical for success. I have acquired a variety of skills and traits such as team spirit, good work ethics, and time management skills during my career.
Pros: Great opportunity for work experience
Cons: No salary

Operational obligations
My day at work is always hectic and and full of surprises. I learnt new skills on a daily basis and constantly have to improve in my area of work. I have a good relationship with fellow colleagues and believe in good teamwork. If there should be conflict it must be sorted out immediately to avoid unpleasantness. I have learnt a lot over the years and had systematically grown tremendously at managerial level and is ready for the next level (Director). I enjoy people, good team spirit, to learn and train fellow workers, motivate and grow them. The most challenging aspect of my job is to get as much possible donor funding to support students with scholarships towards their studies. To ensure that all funding is allocated in an appropriate manner following protocol.
Pros: The job is a great growth opportunity that might led to promotion in the near future.
Cons: I am use to working long hours to ensure that all areas of my work are fullfill especially the finance payments.

Good place to build experience
Its an average 8-4 job, paying just under market related salaries. Good place to learn, but bad place if you're looking for a relaxed working environment. Tons of last minute deadlines and massive lack of communication. Overall, not a bad place to work at, but not a good place to stay working at.
Pros: great atmosphere in the team i work with
Cons: very bad managers

Enhances skills and knowledge
I have enhanced my knowledge in the chemical industry and had practical experiences. I was able to work individually and collaboratively. We were taught to write weekly reports which is extremely important to know in my field of study. The hours have been long and hectic and that taught me how to work under pressure and to be resilient. The course material is relevant and consise which made it easy to understand the concepts of the course and to excel in them.
Pros: Excellent practical amd theoretical experiences
Cons: Bulk work

Instructing students, marking their test scripts
My name is Luyanda Mvumvu, I studied Bachelor of Commerce at the University of the Western Cape. I was a Financial Accounting Tutor and I applied for that position, because I had excellent Accounting results and it has always been my dream to share the information with others. Working as a tutor helped me improve my communication skills and actually boosted my confidence of speaking infront of a crowd. Again I saw myself as a leader where my duties were to assist the students pass the module by revising with them what was done in class, mark their tests and also to give performance feedback to the lecturer. That is when I learned how to be managed and work according to the instructions given by your senior
Pros: Great opportunity to grow
Cons: Few hours worked

Excellent university for working and learning
I am at university since 2011, started with my honors and now I am busy with my postdoc research. It is my pleasure to say that this university is a wonderful place to learn and to do research. The department allowed me to learn on my own and there was no pressure from my supervisor or anyone else from the department. The staff members and co-workers are so easy and very helpful throughout my journey. I have learned a lot in these years from my supervisor, colleagues, friends, and students. I enjoyed each day by discussing and talking about different issues happening around the world with my supervisor and friends. Although I made so many mistakes in my research and analysis of data, those mistakes helped me a lot to improve my research. I can say the two challenging factors in research are patience and concentration, without these factors, it will be very difficult to enjoy our study.
Pros: Great oppurtunity to learn
Cons: lack of learning

Opportunity to grown
A typical day at work would be arriving early to miss traffic, so between 6:30 and 7 am, This means I can leave work at 15:45 after working 8 hours. This works well for me because I study at night for my SAIPA qualification that I am currently doing. Then I will plan my day ahead to ensure that all my monthly clients deadlines are met on time ( I keep a check list, so I don't accidently miss a deadline). If a time comes that I am waiting for clients to send me documents for the month, I will ask my manager for a compilation to complete (using the budget to guide the time required to complete it). When my monthly capturing is complete I need to calculate the vat for each client (plus minus 20 vat clients a month) to meet month end deadlines. Other than that I have a few (plus minus 5 -10 payroll clients) who have a 7th of the month deadline.
Pros: Flexi work hours between 7am and 9am
Cons: A lot of overtime
