Excellent learning curve

I have been in the construction industry for more than 7 years in SHEQ field. I know that my key strength in the experience I gained of punctuality, good communication skills, implementing the SHEQ system and auditing them, accurate inspections basing my information on the specifications, report writing, maintaining client and subcontractor relationship, and compiling data packs for the client handover documents would make me a perfect candidate for my position. I work and relate well with people, I understand people and people understand me as well from all walks of life. I also have a lot to learn from my new company and I believe that my input would bring positive changes that will bring client satisfaction to my new company and make it one of the best in terms of quality in South Africa.

Pros: maintaining good reputation for the company and myself.
Cons: sometimes working on weekends.

It has been a great learning curve and find myself growing and start wanting more

A typical work day start at 7.30am with tea with my colleagues, opening of the stores, checking inventory, issuing stock and work suits. confirming with what we require for the current jobs running in the factory. My relationship with my co-workers is good but I'm sometimes accused of being to strict and follow the rules to much. I have also learnt that the characteristic is what most people do not like about me and i have learned to never change my value to make other people comfortable. I love my job as it challenges me and allows me to grow as person and I'm also learning to trust my gut and do my best that is all tat i can do. Dealing with stakeholders is very difficult but one has to be level headed.

Pros: I learn everyday and its a challenge working with electronics and preparing job cards materials
Cons: Working long hours and sometimes having to work on weekends

Excellent learning curve

Working at Actom is a challenge because there's a lot of work and deadlines to meet. However I have an excellent working relationship with my peers as we work as a team. I have learnt a lot since joining this company in 2006 like how transformers are manufactured and the challenges thereof. I enjoy mostly when i have to design a recipe or program for drying of insulating materials. this work is challenging as it needs someone who thinks analytical and can adapt to change quickly.

Pros: Great for training
Cons: Long working hours

Learning curve

I had a good relationship with employees from shop floor.I always put them first because I have to deal with them face to face.I am a very dedicated employee who is always willing to give it all when it comes to my job.I have also learnt to be patient and listen carefully to their queries.I enjoyed working with them as I have been always there for them. The most challenging aspect of the job is when I have to make sure that all the payrolls are accurate and efficient to try and make employees happy as they work hard.

Pros: There was growth opportunities
Cons: Working long hours and weekends did not bother me at all as I have to finish all the tasks given.

I have learned that private sector is totally different from public sector as a former educator.

I make sure that employees have toolbox talks every morning and the supervisor does it. Mine is to be around so that l clarify them there is question that safety officer's attention. During l make turns at the working areas to make sure employees are working safe and give advice and some coaching where it is needed and the interaction is fairly well. Construction workers have a tendency to say l have so many years doing this job every and therefore nothing can happen to me and as such they tend to ignore safety. I like it when l am giving coaching and advice to employees as this brings back the memories of teaching since l am qualified teacher. The only challenge is the mind set.

Pros: You are promoted based on what you can do rather than your papers
Cons: You normally do not have enough time for your family. You spend most of your time at work.
