Sales role, Daily operations of the Bank Branch

Is been a good 8 years experience in Retail , African Bank is a production bank Sales are key to the successvof this institution. STAFF is well looked after marketing.

Excellent learning curve

It is good company thought it has lot of challenges in terms of target requirement due to economy. I have learned alot in working with different individual with different goal and aspect, what i enjoy the most is team work and team play

Decisiveness

Working at African bank taught me to be decisive as I was in call centre environment, how I handled my clients determined my ability of negotiations where there will be win win situation. My decision on call handle they normally built relationship with client in a professional manner . I made sure that I reach to clients need where is possible.

Typical work day

Getting early at work (15 minutes before you start your work)to prepare the work station. Checking previous workload if there is and clear all pending queues. Always be ready for the first customer to the last with excellent customer service. Make inbound and outbound calls follow up with pending credit applications pay loans as per company requirement (after thoroughly check customer s afford ability). Preparing for the next day plan of the day before leave work.

Pros: Great exposure in building and living company values which also build personal confidence and in a position of being recognised for rowthnin the company
Cons: Not reaching client satisfaction which at times questions your ability.

My days are always busy. Fastpaced environment. Wonderful working colleagues, team players. In this short period I have worked in this company I have learnt good time management, Prioritising and working well with diverse people.

I also do outbound calls to Insurance customers who have not paid their premiums/policy about to lapse and negotiate and secure future payment by retaining them. I have acquired knowledge of the Acts – National Credit Act (NCA), Financial Intelligent Centre Act (FICA), Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act, Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act and the TCF fairness outcomes.

Learning and Development curve

A typical day in my position, I fulfill Learning and Development tasks which are conducting trainings and assessing delegates on Trained modules, as well as overseeing that staff are well developed to conduct their duties and adhere to the required standards within training structure. Throughout the day I complete various administrative duties as well, including answering phones, drafting documents and emails, filing and strategic planning to meet customers needs. I also provided strong customer service and resolved customer issues.

Pros: one of the biggest advantages to working in a large company is that you can change jobs – often multiple times – and stay within the company. For someone like me who is always up for a new challenge, being able to move from Training and development team, to a marketing group, to services, and back again, provides the intellectual challenge that many people seek – without having to update the resume and embark on a job search.
Cons: It’s harder to get decisions made, and employees have less autonomy. You may have a brilliant idea, but by the time you follow all required processes, and review it with all the stakeholders, and get the executive team to buy-in, there’s a good chance that it may not even resemble what you started with.
