Planning and organising are skills that I have gained and perfected in my years with Edcon. Every day I experience a new undertaking with my business partners and curve balls are constantly thrown my way. So my role is always to keep HR strategy at the back of my mind and mange those curve balls in line with strategy. People are at the heart of what I do, so I find myself having a number of conversations with different employees at all levels. Career path, poor performance, talent risks and managing overall culture concerns are my day to day talks with employees and managers. I constantly engage with my Colleagues and Centre of Excellence teams to assist me in managing these conversations and relationships. All of the above I enjoy tremendously as I see the value the value I add to my business.

I have learnt alot at my work place
Mondays are very slow and long because there are no customers at all. The relationship with co-workers is good we always encouraging one another to be the best. I have learnt to be selfish when it comes to sales otherwise i will never reach my targets. I enjoy mostly to be my own boss making my own decisions. When i don't have stock its a nightmare and head office is not answering the phone and customers are in front of me.

EDCON is the best company to work for, I just need to grow and learn more thing and expand my horizon, Best HR policies in place. the training is very good. my company just needs to match the work with the remuneration
Pros: the environment is very relaxed, and there is room for diversity
Cons: the workload is a lot as our company has retrenched a lot of people

edcon its a retail head office company ,where we process payment for retail employees ,capture their weekly store schedules, resolve the queries ,do the filling ,we capture their under banks and essure out their payslips if requested by the employee

I am at Edcon in Human Resource Department. My duties are but not limited to: • Creation of adverts on Soft scape • Advertising internally and externally • Shortlisting of candidates and inviting them to interview • Compiling interview guides • Arranging and conducting interview • Make offers to accepted candidates • Compiling new starter packs documents for new employees • Preparing of Appointment Authorisation Forms, Letter of Appointments and Flexible Remuneration • Calculation of benefit Salaries and Total Packages • Uploading employees on my Focus System to grant them employee numbers • Conducting Reference check through MIE and Telephone • Preparing tracker for missing documents on new starters • Capturing of SDL accounts( under banking) • Updating spread sheet tracker for terminations, maternity leaves etc. • Capturing of new employee on my focus for Document Collection Campaign • Confirmation of employment • Contract for Location allowances

i have q national secretary diploma, i worked for Edcon a s secretary for 4 general managers for 9 years. i personally feel as i am a extrovert working in corporate is aajor bonus as im very flexable and easy to deal with various people.
