Good skill building
My first time working there I was overwhelmed by the work but as the time goes by I got hang of it. Meeting deadlines was not an easy task bug I managed quiet well and I am thankful for the experienced I got because I was working fog a national paper. Print for me is my passion and I love telling people'stories it gives me a relief when I have help someone through my articles.
Pros: Great learning capability
Cons: No immediate growth

Thorough knowledge of the SA Media and Marketplace
I have done everything a Research Manager at a media company does as well as Market Intelligence and aiding sales. I currently run an online panel where we hear from consumers what they think of our media. I work with industry surveys, as well as adhoc research, creating insights via our bespoke panel as well the usual industry tools such as Adex, Telmar.
Pros: Flexible and variety of tasks
Cons: Dying business

Excellent learning curve
re workingCaption: Residents of Rossetenville took to the streets to protest against gender based violence. Photos supplied on. Fast-paced environment, quick news turnaround, deadline driven, constantly you have to be alert of breaking news. Receiving feedback about your work can either provide positive reinforcement that makes you feel valued.
Pros: Great learning experience
Cons: Long working hours

Good company to work for, but not always transparent and open
Good, learning experience but not always open to help workers get to the next level. Very conservative and have favours-for-buddies approach. There are lots of opportunities, but very often it does not go to the people that deserve them.
Pros: Great opportunities, lots of perks
Cons: Not open, too conservative

Growth & Development
Long hours, demanding and deadlines are extremely tight with fewer headcount and greater demands Not a healthy environment to excel in going foward due to lower headcount, tighter deadlines and a corporate culture of the Execs thats not very transparrent and honest. Coworkers are an excellent hard working group of people but often politics brings people to forget that we need to act in the best interest of all stakeholders. I have enjoyed the special projects, SAP implementation and formation of the finance shared services centre.
Pros: Remuneration, Growth
Cons: Long hours, highly politicised culture

Overview
Great company to work for. Good work-life balance. Good at developing staff through formal education. Company in a sunset industry. Thus limited opportunity to grow into next roles. Future is unknown and might change at a drop of a penny. Somehow stuck in old way of thinking and ability to change limited by significant red tape. Enough strides made to change the corporate culture but might be a little to late. However, not all is lost and opportunity can still be leveraged.
Pros: Limit benefits
Cons: low opportunity for career growth

Pros: Meet a lot of different people from all walks of life
Cons: not much space for growth

Flexible working hours
Flexibility to meet family needs, personal obligations, and life responsibilities conveniently. If you have a flexible schedule, you can go to a parent-teacher conference during the day, take a yoga class, or be home when the washing machine repair person comes.
Pros: Have more control over your time schedule and working environment
Cons: Long working works
