A challenging, demanding but rewarding job
A typical day involves working with people and doing administrative tasks. I generally have good working relationships with my colleagues. I have learnt to expect the unexpected and have learnt to be more assertive when necessary. I thoroughly enjoy observing the growth and development of the students I work with. The most challenging aspect of my job is having to deal with an unpredictable colleague.
Pros: Opportunity to work with people and doing admin - utilising both left and right brained skills
Cons: Unrealistic demands from several sources at various times.

Excellent Learning curve
Being a Freelance Typist I work from home. I therefore have to be VERY self disciplined. It can become quite lonely, not having the hussel and bussel of co-workers around you. My communication with Unisa would 99% of the time be by way of email. Communication regarding an existing instruction, receiving and despatching an instruction, all happens by way of email. I don't find this uncomfortable or out of the ordinary, since this is what I expect from such a kind of job. It would however be nice to be in a office position again, and working for Unisa on a permanent position would be the ultimate for me.
Pros: It was wonderful for me to have the opportunity to improve my knowledge of the Word Program to such an extent, as I have been able to do in this Freelance job I have had for the last 3-4 years.
Cons: I would prefer to have the opportunity to have a permanent position with Unisa, although it seems to be quite impossible due to the strict BEE polisies they still have.

Excellent learning opportunity
We deal with students daily so its hectic at time but with the dedicated stuff that we have, we manage to solve all student's queries. A typical work day would be registering assignments and capturing their mark as well as calling students if there's any outstanding information or assignments. My co-workers are very friendly and we get along very well, I enjoy working with such dedicated people. I have learnt to be patient with people through this job and the most challenging aspect would be when the Student system is down and we can't assist students and they get frustrated.
Pros: One can study for free but if you not working as a temp at Assignment department

Leaning experience
Have gracefully enjoyed working here, learned a lot new systems, improved in terms of management skills, communication skills, meet wonder people that inspired me gracefully. Most challenging was to deal with clients or students who did not understand the terms and conditions of the company. But manage to handle most situations.
