A very demanding but rewarding job.
All days include a combination of assisting people and administrative tasks. In this environment it is essential to be both a self starter and a team player. In general I have very good working relationships with my colleagues with open, honest communication and feedback. I am a good listener and am perceptive and intuitive. I have learnt to expect the unexpected and have in certain aspects of my life learnt to be more assertive than I would normally have to be. I enjoy observing the growth in students as they progress through their final year as undergraduates. Being part of this process is richly rewarding. The most challenging aspect of my current job is having to deal with an unpredictable colleague. Working at a tertiary educational institution has given me many opportunities to engage more meaningfully cross culturally and I value the discussions I have had both formally and informally with colleagues and students.
Pros: Balance between working with people and administrative tasks.
Cons: Fixed term contract with no benefits. At times unrealistic expectations from several sources.

Excellent learning curve
I embarked on a new journey where I had the privilege to work at Elsies River Community Day Hospital where I absorbed a great deal of knowledge and gained huge insight into the field of administration. My time at Elsies River Community Day Hospital allowed me to work side by side with the person in charge and with fellow administrators on matters regarding filling, process of doctor appointments, patient satisfaction, data capturing of Statistics on (PHCIS). I am currently working as Admin Assistant at the University of South Africa in Parow, Cape Town. In a short period of time, I acquired a good understanding of principles and practices of association, planning, records management and wide-ranging administration. My ability to converse efficiently, as well as my writing and analytical skills were all greatly enhanced. I believe my background and skills closely match your job requirements and I am confident I can make a positive contribution to your organization.
Pros: Here is a great opportunity to grow
Cons: We not working long hours

My typical day
Typical day 1. Review/update my to do list for the day 2. Report progress if any from the previous day to the Director 3. Capture TeamTEC for the previous days time 4. Check emails 5. Start with the days work(Audit, meetings, peer review, collect evidence, data analysis etc) I have a good relationship with my co-workers who have taught me everything I know about IT Auditing I have learnt a lot about the field. SDLC audits interests me most. The challenge we normally get is difficult clients who view Internal Auditors as enemies instead of strategic partners
Pros: Holistic view of the company you work for
Cons: Difficult clients

Learning curve
Oh yeah! Unisa was a very good working inviroment with most good driven people. I have learned a lot from people in the institute, department and my team. Doing the kind of a job I was assigned to do, meaning to assist students with their queries day by day it wouldn't be a child's play withoutmy team. I learned that even if you know that you can work alone at your own desk but you still need to teamup with your colleagues. Always carry your smile with you.
Pros: great opportunity
Cons: normal working hours
