GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN

on a typical day, I work for specific hours. I prepare practical stations, run a practical session on my own and also do some assesment to test whether the students understood the content that was covered in the practical session. I have a good working relationship with my co-workers. When there is anything I need help with, I do ask for help. I have learnt hhow to work with different individuals with different personalities. There is not much of a challenge with my job except that it keeps one on their toes and very busy. I enjoyed teaching students and helping them understand different contents of their scholl work, seeing them progress to the next levels from my efforts was a delight.

Pros: Perfect opportunity for growth and interpersonal skills development
Cons: Contract, not well defined work schedule

Excellent learning curve

Because of Covid-19, learning and learning support is conducted online that means i work from home. I have to schedule weekly meeting with students assigned to me, review and comment on their assignments and reports. I have to submit monthly reports of my progress and activities with the students. I have a great relationship with fellow co-workers as we are always engaging with each other over the phone, offering each other advice and assistance where it is needed. I have learnt to be patient and understanding . I enjoy engagements with the students, following up on their academic progress and supporting them academically. .

Pros: Great opportunity to gain work experience
Cons: Little work

Excellent Learning Curve

Working at the University of Johannesburg is very good. Although it is not a formal job (Monday to Friday job), I enjoy working there and it actually prepares me to be a professional in the work place. A typical work day includes placing books where they belong in case they have been misplaced, switching on the library computers, train students on how to use Microsoft Office. My relationship with coworkers is very smooth and professional. Working with students has actually helped me to deal with difficult and demanding students and by doing so, it has polished my communication skills. Helping people is what I really enjoy the most. It brings me joy to see people I've helped excel in their studies and life in general.

Pros: Great for communication skills
Cons: Needs long hours
