I am 30 year old lady ,working for preventative maintence for power units and auxiliary.medupi power station generate electricity of 4800mw in total.it has 6 units and consist of balanced of plant and water treatment plants. Coal and ash plants.

In the ERI I've learned so much, I'm a cool, calm and collected.
We basically do maintenance on the turbine oil system which include different type of pumps, valves and other components, we work as a team to give 100% production. I've learned to be decisive coming to the risks on the job.
Pros: It is not easy to be recognized at the head office, coming to being a hard worker, simple because the company is too big
Cons: We work 40hours a week unless there's a breakdown.

Excellent learning curve
I start with tools box talk then check machine defects forms for the previous day then order soares and attend to machinery that doesnt need sparess

Working conditios are extremely comfortable and competitive place. There's alot of training and development opportunities for employees and ion job training. Transfer of skills and knowledge is always done frequently.

A fast learner in every job
i take everyday as a new day and a new work experience. relationship is based on the work that we do everyday, knowing their problems and knowing their problems in that way the is no talking about personal things. i have learned that education is a basic tool of your future and i have found people with different education that i have learned from them. the most challenging thing is when you try to solve something but becomes difficult to finish it in time and end up taking it at home.

I have responsibilities that I have to action on a daily basis and Electrification report that I consolidate and send the latest update to my manager. I work well with my colleague. How to communicate with my colleagues and senior manager. Assisting my colleagues to organise workshops and booking travel for my other colleagues coming from other regions. Booking travel following up on outstanding flight details updating electrification report. when the numbers on the report reflect as negative i have to follow up with manager or seat with them to fix it.
Pros: I would love to move to another business unit so that I can gain new experience and get better understanding about the company at large.

Steep learning curve
Subsidiary of Eskom responsible for the overhaul of Eskom's turbo generator sets. Being a specialized field the learning curve is quite steep. work entails SOW compilation, spares, resource and time planning, Document and quality control, execution, incident investigation and report writing. When no outages are in progress, running units and maintenance takes preference. The work is very demanding time wise and its extremely difficult to balance personal and work life.
Pros: Great exposure to turbine technology
Cons: High Stress levels, Inexperienced workforce, Long hours, No personal time

My expierance and learning curves
I have add a value to the company through adapting to situations and learned different skills about this trade. the environment of the company and its surrounding is more conducive in such a way that the people are very approacheable .people are adhering to the act and regulations of the company as stipulated in the ohs act.I have improved into different sections of the leadership such as being the responsible person .
