Managing a 2085 sqm business with a turnover of R 1 500 million per week

I manage a 2085 sqm business with a turnover of R 1 500 million a week, fashion, beauty and home collectively. With 20 employees reporting directly to me on the daily basis. I love how broad the challenges are and having to overcome each one of them makes me feel so accomplished and rewarded especially working with a value adding team.

Pros: Having such an enormous responsibility keeps me on my toes, achieving each is really fulfilling
Cons: I need more responsibility such as running the entire business unit, being a specialist gets tedious at times

Good entry level job

A typical work day as a till operator is to make sure your till works, is clean, you have the necessary equipment (such as pen, serviettes, spoons, forks, etc). Because you work with customers its best to walk the floor in order to know what is on special and to see if there's enough stock of items and also to better promote the brand with certain sale items , etc I've learnt to always be flexible and to know your stock

Pros: Flexibility, building relationships with both colleagues and customers and getting to know who your customer is
Cons: Long working hours

Lots of learning opportunities

* new challenges with queries * daily training to staff on new policies or procedures * planning, organizing daily tasks * work mostly the same on a daily basis * some days no challenges * meeting new customers and meeting their needs * receiving compliments on a daily basis is the best feeling ever * working hours is 40 hours a week bt, mostly 10 hours a day and 5 days must be worked * being promoted is not that easy as you have to go threw a 2 to 3 day interview

Pros: Benefits
Cons: Unfairness

Woolworths is a great company to work for, the culture and the ways of working are prenominal.

Woolworths is a great company to work for, the culture and the ways of working are prenominal. the values of the company speaks to what we would like to achieve, so that pushes you to not rest until you have produced the best. I work with a big group and I work well with my team, and I have learnt that communicating effectively is the most important tool that works for us. my work challenges me in many aspects so that keeps me on my toes and that is my drive to always try and find solution, when am done with my job and my displays causes the customer to buy and be happy then that means I have done my work and it will reflect on the sales.

Pros: there are great opportunities
Cons: Money not satisfying

Excellent customer service

Working at Woolworths was the best experience meeting with different kinds of people, nice customers and difficult customers. It's a place where you have to work as a team members . And also building a relationship with other cultures. What I enjoyed most at working at Woolworths is to make your customers happy so that they can make you happy as well. Challenging part was getting little salary at the end of the month..

Pros: Great opportunity for image
Cons: Small hours

Excellent learning

Work well within a team More oppertunity to grow withing the business 45 hour a week working hours Most challenging aspects is to oversee my responsibilities when i am off for 3 days. Training staff is a big part of the business and productivity needs to be at a maximum level to get trough a normal day. Due to long trading hours and store location, staff turn over is problematic as a result of transport

Pros: Great oppertunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours
