Learning curve
I am a certified green belt six-sigma practitioner. I have completed a BTech in Industrial Engineering from Durban University of Technology; I also did PGDip in Marketing and Supply Chain Management from UKZN to supplement my Industrial Engineering career. I have over 6 years of experience. I completed my in-service training from Bell equipment and I finished a two-year Graduate Programme with Toyota, I worked at Toyota as a Principal Engineer, Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) as a Process Engineer, Booyco Electronics as an Industrial Engineer and on the Integrated Justice System project as a IT Business Process Engineer. I have experience in business Analysis / software development, process improvement and production optimisation. Based on my skills, interests and experience, I consider myself as a very open-minded person and a motivated worker with the right personality to excel in any task delegated to me. I am positive in the face of problems and translate them into improvement opportunities.

My capabilities
I am assisting area management office during recruitment period, because that function is centralised. Appoint people on persal system after the interviews. I am also appointed as leave coordinator for the institution, assist with policy interpretation. I have a good relations with my colleagues. I was trained to conduct investigations and also appointed as Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator for the institution. the most challenging aspects of the job dealing with people who have got different attitudes, some don't understand the policies one should be patient in explaining to them capabilities
Pros: there is a great chance for promotion
Cons: Working long hours when caturing payments, and updating personnel documents, and when to meet deadlines for submission of reports

Great working environment with exponential opportunities
It’s a very diverse invironment full of opportunities. There are wide range of projects one can be part of. Since most construction and engineering work is done at the correctional services, professionals can choose to do security, hvac, construction, or civil projects

Great skills acquired
My gained accounting experience is from the department of correctional service as an intern. From revenue and petty cash handling, capturing of creditors payments and debts, maintaining journal entries and up to updating Debtors accounts. My additional abilities in communication, problem-solving, and office organization which I have gained through years of service within the retail industry.
Pros: Great opportunity
Cons: Contract ended

Its a good learning curve to work at Department of Correctional Services ,the environment is huge, and working with different users and teams every day .No typical day at DCS, every day is different ,depending on the User's request and your planning for that day .We have a very good working relationship with my co-workers and we promote team work so that we can learn from each other .The most challenging aspect is when the User have an issue and they do not know how to define it because they do not understand the system and the other challenge is when there is Network problem .
Pros: Opportunity for groowth
Cons: No formal training
