Excellent learning curve

I am a transport scheduler. I am scheduling trucks from loads out of Johannesburg DC's to all our clients. I have a good relationship with my co-workers and the company. I have learned that effective communication is very important in the logistics field and you do not have to over promise and under deliver. I enjoy working with my team and communication liaison with my clients or customers it makes me very happy to be willing to assist them. Challenging part of my work is to get a truck during peak season, most outsourced vehicles are working with those who provide better tariffs.

Good company to work for.

Your target is set out and you have to reach it. As an employee you get incentives and goodies that are satisfying. Colleagues are supportive and you get to learn a lot from them.

Very limited opportunity to grow within the company.

Large company with different divisions working toward a common goal. Interacting with various departments is a challenge due to staff having a siloued mentality. I try to break that sown by promoting a open team mentality to show each person what impact their job has on the next person. Lack of discipline is a common thing amongst staff but I enjoy being the strict one in an effort to make people responsible and accountable for their actions. Discipline is important in a large organization and I have seen the change in some staff who have had to sign their warnings. I believe its their attitude that needs to change.

Cons: Shift work, lack of involvement from direct management. Not proactive so its frustrating coming from a corporate environment in the ICT sector.

Hard working

long hours work, can't sit down, making sure the lines run non stop and work job of 2 people. The communication is poor, payslip not clearly explained, hard to go see HR

Pros: 4 shift working.
