Excellent growth

During my years with SARS I have worked in various import and export trade facilitation/ enforcement positions and to which the current position involves managerial responsibilities of Customs and Border Control team and Branch management role. Further to this, I am currently managing a Customs Unit comprising of 40 members with 4 Operations Managers. I am a chairperson of the Inter-Border task team unit that comprises of government organs within the border structures, transporters and clearing and forwarding fraternities for both South Africa and Zimbabwe Striving for continued excellence Providing exceptional contributions to satisfactory client service Strong communication skills Financial and analytical skills Ability to keep up with the cutting edge of technology of modernised systems by enhancing my professional adaptive skills on a dynamic and fast paced workplace.

Good organization

The people are great The work is good but tend to be predictable Learnt tax, finance, communication, how to deal with people. I enjoyed knowing that I am contributing to the greater good of our country

Exceptional learning curve at SARS.

I have learned a lot about tax. Enjoyed attending work shops about new tax changes and presenting them to my co-workers. Being the face of SARS it was a good feeling cause I was also responsible for service recovery and attending complex queries on VAT,PAYE,UIF,SDL,INCOME TAX.VDP & TRUST. Making follow up with the auditors,debt management and payments received by SARS. Enjoyed working as a team motivating each other to work hard to satisfy our clients I.e customer orientated and self driven. The challenging aspect is promotion. I learned a lot about tax but I m still at the same level.

Pros: No opportunities for promotion at all
Cons: Normal working hours but I go extra mile to finish my job for the day
