Our company has been running more then 150 years

I work for a wonderful company customer eccentric. I am a frontline consultant see customers face to face, I issue cards, pins, sales, close accounts, service request and many more I work close with my co-workers we authorise payments and transfers. We have a good understanding as we work well together as a team. I have learnt client experience is most important and respecting and value of people is what matters. I enjoy working with people and putting a smile on their faces seeing satisfaction and also I love sales and pitching a sale makes me feel challenged and knowing I can convert the sale makes me happy.

Enhanced due dilligent officer

To assist the head of money laundering & terrorist financing control by providing support, guidance and advice with regards to the Enhance Due Diligence process in order to enable the bank to comply with the requirements of money laundering and Terrorist financing legislation. Prevent fraud, misconduct and corruption from occurring by ensuring that internal controls are effective and detect potential fraud in customers’ accounts. Identify and escalate adverse trends in customers’ accounts and reporting suspicious transactions. Determine customers that pose a high money laundering or terrorist financing risk to the bank. Screening and of checking information received from Business and other relevant sources. Load STR on suspicious transactions.

Growth and development

Standard bank is great company to work for. And I have been a consultant for the past 4 years. I worked 170 hrs per month but normally exceeded my working hours due to follow ups and some other administrative duties. I used to have a great relationship with all my colleagues and manager, we were one. I have learned a lot in short space of time, I was even assisting the prestige banking when the prestige banker is off sick or on leave. What I enjoyed mostly is to closely with my line manager as she taught me a lot on how to grab opportunities and growing yourself as individual within the organisation. The most challenging aspect were just late lunches when we very busy and no one could relief us or assist us.

Pros: Learning curve and taking a different role to learn more about other entities.
Cons: Taking late lunch

Being a team player

*having a target for the day making sure you pay attention and reach the target AND EXCEED IT *working in teams making sure you understand other people and being able to corporate with the teams. *being proactive all the time. *never to look down on other people and never tell yourself that you are not perfect for a certain thing *being a team leader of your own team ,its difficult to manage someone having to understand different people characters

Pros: making sure customer's FICA is in order
Cons: the longest hours i have was 13 hours

Banking. Imports and Export directory. and Excon development

My job intails the below: I learned dealing with clients and keeping them happy on a daily bases. Learning in detail the way freight business works,including the import and export trades of logistics field. And also keeping compliance of the company in mind by learning how to balance business ethics and customer satisfaction. We also exposed to the forex side of the business (market analysing )

Pros: Great way to learning different fields all at once
Cons: Hard work and full concentration

Excellent learning experience and expose to different business units.

I am currently working as ETL Analyst /developer; I have worked with few Data warehousing tools like Datastage and Teradata, Mainframe, TWS etc. Liaise with business units on systems/ process enhancements, translating business requirements. Produce feasibility reports and drawing up testing schedules. I work well with others. I am capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines. I learn at an excellent pace and I am ready to face new challenges and welcome them as a test of my abilities.

Pros: Great working environment and culture.
Cons: I have been with the company for too long and i believe change will be great in order for me to grow and learn more challenges.

Best company to work for look after their staff and clients

doing daily reports. making sure that team knows what is excepted of them daily, giving excellent customer experience , delivery on our daily commitments . had to learn listening skills very important, each and every interaction is totally different ,especially when it comes to customers queries, complaints and concerns. i mostly enjoyed working with people daily different customers and queries to resolve .making sure that my Team knows and understand the important of making clients feel as your number one proprietary when you interact with them.

Pros: growth in the company was and is unbelievable , moved to new positions with in 12months
Cons: staffs attitude and dedications towards work and clients

My stepping stone to success

working in the the voice branch is a great challenge because you get to Discover a lot of things which you did not about your self,one of the things was time management ,patients.I have learnt how to multi skill and work in groups which i could before because i always thought working alone produces great results .The challange i faced was to gasp so much information at a short period and at the end of the day i always found a way to overcome the challenge .What i enjoyed the most was helping clients especialy when i knew that the query is something which i can resolve and manage to put a smile on a clients face after the interaction

Good for growth and discipline

For me as a typical day a work is when I processed so many deposits and withdrawal on a single day,we work different shifts so the relationship with co-workers is minimal,Since working for the bank I've learnt that banks are making to much money over people debts and they encourage debts from people,I enjoy facing people and hear their views and some encouraging you to be more in your life,however I'm not passionate about banking.What challenging is to convince customers to be in debt for the bank to make more profit.

Cons: Working shifs and doing one thing
