Good working environment

I had a good career at Sun International,i enjoyed working weekends because of the extra cash and mostly because we work in small numbers and work is much simpler and targets get reached.I had a good working relationship with my co-workers.I learned a lot from my job after i got promoted because i got to understand most of the work done by management.The only thing i hated was that not enough time was allocated for breaks.

Pros: No room for growth
Cons: Less break times

A Day in the Life of an Entertainment Coorindator

The camaraderie at work is great! Team spirit is fantastic.A typical day for me includes net working and bureaucratic conversations with all stakeholders. Challenges in my position is that it is a very administratively heavy process and thus can sometimes delay outputs.What I have learnt is to be a very good negotiator and not to be too much of a push over (entertainers/artists are inclined to be demanding).

Pros: I get to meet different people and attending shows added benefit (I Love Live Music). Satisfied happy customers (because doesn't like to be entertained)
Cons: Administratively heavy process.

I am currently working as an HR Consultant for Sun International at the Golden Valley Casino responsible for the following: • Ensure Compliance to relevant SOP’s and regulation/ legislation e.g. conditions of gaming licence, policies, LRA, BCEA, EE and transformation, etc. • Represent HR department on disciplinary proceedings to ensure the right procedure is followed • Advise managers/ HOD’s in preparation for disciplinary hearings. • Implement HR related activities within the business unit • Compile action plans to deliver HR business objectives • Draft company policies

Pros: Currently I report to an HRBP serving as a right hand man, I am currently on a succession planning to my manager when she decides to leave the company.
Cons: I do work long hours when required, however I do not get paid for the days worked in overtime, it contributes towards averaging of hours.

An excellent company to work for with many growth opportunities.

A highly professional company committed to its business value. One of the major elements around the success of Sun International is their commitment to excellence when it comes to customer service. The organisational culture is so amazing among staff. Everyone knows each other. We call each other by name from the executive to a cleaner. Everyone is given an opportunity to grow and I have learnt that with the right guidance and mentorship, people have gone far. What I enjoyed the most is people and their collaboration. The right tool makes all the difference. Businesses with healthy collaboration are more successful than their no-to-so open counterparts . The most challenging part of my job was not getting support of resources from authorities , especially finance.

Excellent

I do not have a problem with the company, but the department that I'm in there is no growth. I've been long enough within the department but nothing happened. I decided to continue with my studies with hope that I will get a better position but still in the same position. I encourage to work as a team and that help each other and build an individual confidence. I also enjoy to work on my own. I am used to the job that I am doing as a results nothing is challenging to me.

Pros: There is no hope for growth and promotions in my department.
Cons: I am working 12hour shifts, two day shifts, two night shifts and four days off. I am enjoying working long hours cause I get enough time to do my school work as well.

Excellent Experience gained
