Excellent learning curve
Sun City has been a Great learning curve right after graduating. From customer service,guest liaison, cumputer skills ( Opera,Micos),liaising with different departments in the resort to make guest stay much nice and pleasurable. The resort is forever busy and like any other running machine it needs fixing now and then. The employees make it work through the late shifts, overtime and passion

Leaned a lot and gained lots of experience
I've been with Sun International for more that 5 years and gave me an opportunity to learn and understand Hospitality, deal with Clients complaints and Manage staff with my department. Learning a lot from my superiors and my colleagues it made who I am today regarding solving issues in a professional manner without having problems or panicking.
Pros: Opportunity to grow further in my working environment
Cons: Never mind working long our and week ends

Learning experience
It was fine when I started the job. However, there was a restructure last year whereby many people and jobs were affected. This brought about unsettling changes that were not practical. This changed the nature of the job environment.

Excellent learning curve
It has been a well balanced experience and growth to work at Sun International. More than anything, I understand what bending over backwards means and the importance of working as a team is.

Survey Feedback
Communication in the business can sometimes be frustrating as it is not always timeous. Unionized environment which makes the flow of information a bit obstructive. Great salary perks though. Manage own time.

My work experience
Sun International is a resort hotel chain and casino destination from South Africa created by Sol Kerzner, probably best known for its Sun City Resort near Rustenburg in the North West Province. Best entry point for development
I am working as a cashier which keep me in contact with customer. I have leant to deal with difficult and upset guest and come up with a soluble advises that calm them. The relationship with my superiour is strictly business or work related unless if we are gathered somewhere on a function that where we get to know each other more personally other than work. The difficulties i have is that the working enviroment is stranuous to my body as I am a student as well so sometimes the lectures clashe with my work but I try to use my days off to cover for that time.

A Day in the Life of an Entertainment Coorindator
The camaraderie at work is great! Team spirit is fantastic.A typical day for me includes net working and bureaucratic conversations with all stakeholders. Challenges in my position is that it is a very administratively heavy process and thus can sometimes delay outputs.What I have learnt is to be a very good negotiator and not to be too much of a push over (entertainers/artists are inclined to be demanding).
Pros: I get to meet different people and attending shows added benefit (I Love Live Music). Satisfied happy customers (because doesn't like to be entertained)
Cons: Administratively heavy process.

High volume time driven results
The day starts early. Meetings take up a lot of time. Information is important to obtain results effectively. Being a team is most important and I enjoy meeting guests. I really don't like politics as this distracts from the objectives The most challenging part of my job is getting everyone to do the same task every day in the best way trained to them as humans we tend to change with the weather.

I am currently working as an HR Consultant for Sun International at the Golden Valley Casino responsible for the following: • Ensure Compliance to relevant SOP’s and regulation/ legislation e.g. conditions of gaming licence, policies, LRA, BCEA, EE and transformation, etc. • Represent HR department on disciplinary proceedings to ensure the right procedure is followed • Advise managers/ HOD’s in preparation for disciplinary hearings. • Implement HR related activities within the business unit • Compile action plans to deliver HR business objectives • Draft company policies
Pros: Currently I report to an HRBP serving as a right hand man, I am currently on a succession planning to my manager when she decides to leave the company.
Cons: I do work long hours when required, however I do not get paid for the days worked in overtime, it contributes towards averaging of hours.
