An excellent organization to work for

A very well balanced organization to work at. Acquired a vast degree of skills an expertise in customer care/ freight/logistics/import/export etc. I have supervised personnel and ensured customer demand is met in keeping with company policies and protocols in a safe and consistent manner. Where deviation management was necessary, the process had to be followed and implemented.

Pros: Experience in freight/ logistics
Cons: No room for development

Excellent learning curve

I have qualified on the 14th of July 2016. I have been on the field ever since. On the 26/01/2017 I have received my certificate so the company is going to release me as I have said I am not a permanent worker. My daily work I'm always working under supervision of artisan. Even though I know what I am doing but its a company rule because they just giving me experience. I working hand in hand with artisans that gives me confidence because at the end of the day I'm the one who's always doing all the work because I want to gain experience. I see my self working alone as an electrician in any company . I am enjoying what I am doing. Transet workers are treating me very well making sure every day I do something in order to build my confidence in working industry.

Pros: Good for my career growth
Cons: Working more hours

Hardship learning curve

Working at Transnet on a daily to day basis is really frustrating especially on the department that i am working on people they just do things the way they want to and it is really frustrating when one really wants to apply actually engineering principles. The relationship with colleagues is very good the only problem is with top management they actually do not communicate with lower level workers properly. What i enjoy is to solve technical issues and apply engineering knowledge to solve problems and working hand to hand help clients. The most challenging aspect is change management because the top management is held by old white people that do not want to change and that feel threatened by my qualifications and they tend to hold once down to development and education.

Pros: Working in Team
Cons: Lack of opportunity for promotion

An Excellent learning oppotunity

It was like a normal working environment hard working is needed but with time you get used to it all,we mostly work as a team our relationship was all based on work, because we spend lot of times discussing modules and going to work shop, have learned a lot working in this environment going to workshop doing fault finding on locomotives, maintenance, I enjoyed mostly working in the working getting dirty and stuff it shows you and building you on how electrical fitter should be like,it really a nice experience, the most challenging aspects on my job is working under the locomotives and on top of it it need open eyes and concentration

Pros: it was a great oppotunity working at transnet
Cons: we worked normal working ours

Quality process expect

I enjoying working on quality department because I have experienced lots challenges on the processes tha gives me a huge picture on how to handle the same processes on the coming issues. Team work as well was a key position I played as I was a quality manager and good leadership skills. I learnt how to work under pressure, how to handle quality issues on the production line and the disputes on quality by using quality requirements or standards.

Pros: Opportunity for promotion
Cons: Working under pressure
