Excellent Learning Experience

Applying theory i learnt in class was an amazing and exciting experience and i will forever be greatfull for the opportunity. Not only was is a learning curve academically, i also learnt how to work and team up with people with different age, background, personality, mindset and culture. I worked for Continuous Improvement department,it was challenging and because i love being challenged, it was a good exercise and journey for me. I perfom my best when challenged than doing the routine work which also one of the reason why i chose the Industrial Engineering career path. I was part of the Lean projects done to improve processes and productivity of the organization and i also had my individual projects i did. The role i played and my responsibilities in projects include time studies, activity sampling, 5s, data analysis, Gemba works, Power point presentations and visual management in the yards.

Pros: Excellent environment for Learning
Cons: Long working hours when collecting data

Good place to passby in my journey

Interesting at times but it has become routine now as I am aware of all that I need to do and when. An ordinary day at the office maybe be boring then suddenly become exciting due to the varied requests that come from management. That just gets one from being bored to really excited in a wham.

Pros: Can pay good money
Cons: Limited scope

Good customer relations and a team player

On a typical workday i start with going through my emails and attending the meetings. This helps me to get to plan the day ahead, getting my ducks in a row in the form of scheduling the sub-tasks. I also ensure that the resources and tools are available and accessible before starting the day's task/project. With almost 10 years of experience there is so much that i have learnt ever since i started working for the company. That includes amongst other things design, project and product management, quality management, engineering processes etc. I enjoy attending meetings wherein we conceptualise the designs, be it the locomotive, trucks and coaches. Furthermore,i like the part where we plan, strategise and do the scope of work for the product we planning to design and how this is going to be monitored and controlled.

Pros: Very Conducive environment
Cons: Not Enough challenges
