Good learning curve

I work day shift and since I arrived here at Transnet I have learned that team work is very important and communication. Hardworking is also the key and there are challenges that I came across for example learning the processes and the culture of working.

Excellent learning

I want to work according skills and learning ,communication wth partners and participate during learning and work ,the relationship wth colleges must be in a good way ,i enjoyed mostly whn if the is something new come up , i want to learn each and everything in particular work to gain knowledge

Working with deferent people in projects, problem solving attitude, legal

I represent my department in Train control project, as well as Branch lines projects, new development projects in my geographical area of work which is the entire MMC of Transnet Freight Rail. I’m often involved in Risk Assessments and operations visits for ensuring proper execution of our procedures/ projects plans also visibility purposes, 2nd line Audits and compliance mandates. I am always excited to learn new ideas, self driven and sharing information with others who require my help and team mates. I also have done 2nd line Audits for the past 3 years.

Pros: Growth in compliance space
Cons: Over stayed, it’s time for a fresh learning space and enlargement of knowledge while sharing my knowledge

Great opportunities to learn and grow.

Transnet is a good company to work for, my colleagues are interesting and fun people to work with. There is a lot of work to get through but it can be fulfilling. I have learnt a lot doing this job. One of the most challenging aspects of this job is the red tape one has to work through.

Learnt a new skill in master data

Vert tight deadlines, no real trust and too much red tape. Decisions and strategy take forever. Skeleton teams and bureaucracy make delivery difficult. Great people but poor leadership. A fantastic environment to learn how not do things. I learned a new discipline in proper master data that was great. My role scope increased and covered more that pm work, practically ran the department. Managed the department budget and contracts but have no doa nor signing power on spend. Manages external software provider

Pros: Great people to work with and good learning curve
Cons: Lack of leadership and too much red tape and change in leadership...too many acting positions.

I like to work with suppliers as I enjoy solving problems with them. I also like to work in a team. My team enjoys working with me. To comply with National Treasury. Develop and implement controls for contract management. BBBEE-Supplier Development and Localisation SD&L Strategic Sourcing. Setting Targets for Suppliers. SLA. Bidding and Evaluation. Negotiation. Contract and Supplier Management. Work on special projects.

Pros: I will be happy to achieve my career.
Cons: I can work extra hours

Management working conditions & remuneration

Management packages and conditions not so conducive. Highly unionised which makes the employer to provide good benefits for BU employees while neglecting managers. Overall good company to work for in terms of job security.Succession planning non existent though the process looks good but none in practice.

Pros: Job security
Cons: Bad conditions and remuneration for managers. policies also are not in favour of managers especially jnr managers
