I have 3 safely excellence awards for a good safety record for me and my team. 9years experience as a safety inspectorate and a safety specialist. One of my outputs is to do incident reviewes , risk assessments, incident investigations.

Excellent Learning Experience
Applying theory i learnt in class was an amazing and exciting experience and i will forever be greatfull for the opportunity. Not only was is a learning curve academically, i also learnt how to work and team up with people with different age,background,personality, mindset and culture. I worked for Continuous Improvement department,it was challenging and because i love being challenged, it was a good exercise and journey for me. I perfom my best when challenged than doing the routine work which also one of the reason why i chose the Industrial Engineering career path. I was part of the Lean projects done to improve processes and productivity of the organization and i also had my individual projects i did. The role i played and my responsibilities in projects include time studies, activity sampling, 5s, data analysis, Gemba works, Power point presentations and visual management in the yards.

Growth
Growth is needed in the organization for employees to gain knowledge. Bursaries are always there too but the challenge is moving from the current position but it is a good company to work for.

Excellent work
Transnet is a Company where Safety is the number 1 priorities. We focus more on business and we also want to deliver our goods on time. We emphasize Safety as we are working in an environment where trains can move at any time. We all know how dangerous the trains can be while in motion. Our Company also reward and recognize good performance of its employees. Our culture at Transnet is that we respect each and every employee irrespective of their grade, gender and religion. We also work together as a team always. The most challenging thing about my job is that I am dealing with train person who works tirelessly to get the job done and they expect their remuneration to be 100% at the end of the month. Some of them don't have the heart to talk to people especially during their signing off time.

Well known brand within the construction industry... They value hard workers and motivate rookies looking to grow with the establishment. As an employee you get a chance to come up with an idea.. It was a experience and a learning curve
Working at Transnet has been incredible, the environment is friendly and my co-worker we have a good relationship and we work together even if you do not understand something they help you.what I enjoy is creating a new filling system for my department. Challenge that I met i had to learn and work with people from a different background cultures,I had to learn their culture so that we can work together

Excellent Experience
• Development and Review of Information Security Policies, Procedures and Standards • Providing Information Security and ISO 9001 Awareness Training • Ensuring governance to all ICT Projects • Identification and mitigation of ICT related risks • Ensuring that all ICT Systems comply with the Transnet Minimum Control Framework (CFRC and ITGC) • Monthly review and signoff all relevant controls. • Ensure protection against malicious code • Report and investigate all information security incidents • Ensure compliance to ICT Regulatory (RICA, ECTA, POPI etc.) and ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System) Relationship with colleagues: I had an excellent professional relationship with my co workers, which gelled quite nice with company environment. we assist each other work as team to solve problems and learn new skills to achieve our objectives
Pros: Since I'm the acting Information Security Manager there is an opportunity to grow to the next level.
Cons: Information Security was consisting of 4 individuals, at this point in time I;m the only resource left. Which means I have to try to do all the function that was done by 4 individuals.

Great company to work for, with good practices

Practical day application
Green area planning and information of the day. Discussion with supervising office around my daily plan. Check tools and condition for the day to match job card. Making sure safety is the top mindset of the day. Complete whatever job or task given to you for my job card in time. Let the supervisor or foreman know where I am at all times. Always on alert for a breakdown. On completion of job inform the supervisor that the task is done and sign of the job card. The challenging part of the job is the heavy duty physical work. The learning process is advantageous to grow. I get on well with my Co workers. Some of the jobs require team work but majority is individual.

Learning Curve
Big organisation with multiple disciplines, Busy as we are customer orientated. Challenging since we are project based and currently I am responsible for 13 projects. Great workmanship, taking their own safety serious. I have learnt cultural differences and religious beliefs and managed to accepts people as they come. always willing to assist and empower through training. I love training and see people I have touched progress in life. Not having enough budget for safety is a nightmare as it is considered a wasteful department
Pros: Stuck in the same position for the past 7years
Cons: company pays 8hrs a day but because of work pressure i put in 12hours a day even work at home
