Great learning experience

It's educational and great opportunity to help others and learn through out the whole time.time consuming but it was worth it ,if you're lucky you get the support from lectures and which helps you stay in track with the students and work

Pros: Great opportunity
Cons: Working with limited resources

Fast learner

I enjoy helping students who are looking for help. My relationship with my coworkers was extremely very good. What i have learnt is to how to get rid of fear when it comes to public speaking because public speaking is not my favourite thing. As I was in the process of tutoring students i also learnt a lot Things i wasn't aware of

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours

You can learn a lot from different people

departments carry out duties as normal as they can, in some departments people mind their own business while in some they get along very well. I have a good relationship with my boss and colleagues I have learnt to work as a team member and as individual I enjoy helping out where I can when I'm not busy\ To work with feuding colleagues

Pros: good opportunity for growth
Cons: contractual job

I have been working for most of the lecturers during my studies.(Free-Lansing)

I'm always friendly and smiling a lot. I treat my follow people like family. Always willing to help where I can. Always willing to walk the extra mile for them. I work hard on what I do because I love what I do. I mostly enjoy going to the site and see how a drawing on paper comes to life.

Pros: I put passion into everything I do.
Cons: Do not like working on weekends.

Excellent learning curve of the workplace environment I have to serve all TUT stakeholders

The day would start at 7am to 3/4 pm on each day of the work. Shift would require you to work with a different student assistant each day. This would require team playing. I’d assist all TUT stakeholders, be it students, tut employees or community members. It was a fast pace environment where I’d have to assist in lines, reporting and answering calls at the same time.

Pros: Flexible hours
Cons: No off days

Excellent exposure

I enjoy working there because I have been given the subject of my strength to teach, and show learners how to solve daily problems using Java. It was an opportunity of a life time to work for a higher institution as it also gave me the power to pay for my tuition fees and be able to see myself to the next Month. I've learnt a lot about working for big industries and how communication works within an industry. I face challenges when working as students are different and some will challenge you in all ways possible, staff members are are family always there to help and carry you through

Pros: An opportunity to grow
Cons: Satisfaction.

Good experience of Metallurgy aspects

The laboratory works gives an idea of the Metallurgical Engineering processes, but this is only in a smaller capacity than a production environment. It is a good work place for research purposes and investigating various aspects of Metallurgical engineering acity.

Pros: Great opportunity to research on many Metallurgy processes, but it does not give the production work experience
Cons: 7 hours

Low opportunity for advancement

I have worked as a contract employee for more than 5 years now and I don't see any prospects of having my situation improve within the organisation. A lack of strong leadership leading to poor communication within different departments causes constant frustration within the workforce.

Pros: Flexible hours
Cons: Low rewards and benefits
