I am looking for a new and challenging role

I am an experienced Pensions Payroll Manager with an excellent track record at Alexander Forbes. I joined the company as a Disability and Pensions Payroll Administrator on 16 May 1989 and subsequently enjoyed significant progress as my potential and output was realized. I was promoted to Assistant Manager responsible for the monthly payment of Disability members, pensioners and widows and Orphans in 1993 and was subsequently tasked with designing the technical payroll training courses and manuals, systems enhancements and staff training for a period of a year. I am currently responsible for 5 Supervisors who has approximately 4 staff each and who administer +-85 000 pensioner payments.

Pros: I enjoy working with the people in my department and parting with my knowledge

Great for a starter/entry level

Big company name... Mediocre staff treatment. Extremely difficult to advance beyond senior status, have to wait for resignations for promotions. Great staff culture. High pressured due to data volumes.

Pros: Great learning curve in corporate environment
Cons: High pressured deadlines, no rewards for extra efforts, portfolio volume increase with no respective increase in renumeration

Exellence in administration

Good day I am currently in a huge environment which is manageable as it is. Working hours are from Monday to Friday unless stated under wise by manager and with flexible hours. Co-workers are people who are very easy to work around especially with workloads as teams, they are the ones who have thought me the most in the company and have improved my skills. there are always challenges in a work place but the most of it all was being able to submit work before cut off, this made me to be able to work faster and being able to multitask to get everything done in time or before time.

Excellent learning curve

Great place to work but very busy. Constant pressure to perform with long working hours. However great opportunity for promotion. Salary and perks are good too

Risk qualification and admin Experience can put me where i want to be

My typical work day, I check queries that comes via email, contact or allocate the query depending if it`s advise or not advice related query. follow up on the previous days emails if there`s any to be done . do various spreadsheet of different exercises Relationship with my colleagues are excellent ,we communicate which make it easier to push the day. I learnt to respect my self first which make it easier to respect others ,also learnt that at work we there to work not to bring our personal issues. What I enjoy most is the motivation scheme in place for when you get good compliments for a month you get 250 points minimum that you can spend on selected stores. There most challenging aspects of the job is that our job looks easy but one mistake it can cause a lot of problems to fix.

Finance Sector will provide me my future opportunities

A typical work day begins at 6am everyday, it is very busy until 9:30, after that the other part of the job starts, which is sort out issues, and think out of the box to mitigate the factors leading to these issues. Relationship with Co-workers is ideal, real team work spirit plus real leadership. I have learnt a lot already in those 2 years, Studying CFA and some extra experience in the financial field has improved my skills and I have become in a short period of time a specialist in what I do. I most enjoy working with numbers, and solving problems. The most challenging part is the early wake up in the morning.

Cons: Because it is a big company, the pay is not so well, and you feel diluted within the rest

Good learning experience

Onsite service consultant based at clients premises for 2 days in a week. ▪ Processing of; Medical Aid applications, Gap cover, New Born applications, Terminations ▪ Liaising with clients and ensuring all client queries raised are resolved. ▪ Monitoring and follow through on outstanding member application forms, as well as monitoring of tracking report. ▪ General administration, filing and updating on U-Drive for traceability. ▪ Drawing up check requisitions and calculating expenses for reimbursements. ▪ Maintaining client relationships. ▪ Working on silverpop programme
