Excellent learning curve

I have been involved in Cobol programming for a substantial time now. In my work life, I have worked for various companies, but I find that Nedbank has a good culture with excellent work life balance. I worked here of 7 years then left for FNB and worked there for 3 years. Needless to say, I found the culture strange, as I used to have an excellent work life balance with an opportunity to enhance my skills and learn new things at Nedbank. I therefore went back to Nedbank, and the culture has not changed one bit. I am entrusted with a lot of responsibility and they believe in my ability to be able to deliver on their mandate. I am currently rewriting their Investment system, and am enjoying the challenge daily.

Very good experience

I am currently a letsema learner. Therefore it is just a stipend. It is a wonderful experience and great exposure to the banking sector. I also get to interact alot which was something I was not used to.

Test analyst

I have a good understanding of programming, functional testing, test automation and non-functional testing. A broad understanding of the automation suite. A broad knowledge of products in Nedbank. A broad understanding of the IT infrastructure. A basic understanding of testing techniques. Can analyse requirements, extract requirements, and use intermediate level test plans Can design test cases including non-functional. Can create test procedures. Can define a controlled system testing environment. Can specify tests using structured techniques learned to date (boundary and equivalence). Can write test summary reports. Can do static testing based on rules and checklists. Can prioritise requirements to test based on test effort and business risk. Can create test cases. Provides input to test plans. Manages and documents traceability between test cases and requirements.

Company benefits are

Work is very much routine with tasks and no valuable time is spent with colleagues as we are client facing. The systems can be challenging and a hinderence for optimal work performance. The process and procedures can be time consuming especially if client has a limited lunch break.

Great environment to build your career

Bank thought me so much, working at branch level as well as central office. Working at Central office was more of internal meaning not exposed to your client. Deal with stakeholders. Working at branch was more fascinating and furious at the same time. I am dealing with client face to face. I must listen to their problems and solve them promptly. With what is currently at place, high number of crime cases, fraude cases, card skimming etc make banking environment vulnerable. With the experience of my colleagues I manage to mitigate the risk from those kinds of clients.

Great learning experience

I’m Jady Ross currently busy with my last year at Damelin studying Travel and Tourism. I’m very ambitious and very hardworking, I also have very well time management and computer skills as well, I can also work well with teamwork. I’m also a very fast learner.
