- Great foundation in terms of understanding what happens on the ground in the retailer space

Smollan is a great foundation to understand what happens from the ground up in the retailer space . You are exposed to the processes of POS elements, stock management , identifying the gaps in store to identifying ways of closing these gaps and uncovering room for opportunity and growth . Smollan definitely has a great field force across all their business units who are passionate, dedicated and go out of their way to ensure that they deliver a great service to every store. However there is a lack of project completion, communication and career development which is what sets them behind .

Great learning curve just lack of formal structure

Long working hours Remuneration does not equate to work done Enjoy working and insping my team of sales reps My co workers are like family, we always have each others backs and help eachother where we can The company itself over promises and under delivers. Thos makes it hard for me as the direct person the client deals with because i bare that brunt. Enjoy the fast paced environment

Both the companies i have worked on i was doing it part time as it was not part of my career path.The years i have worked there taught me a lot about Customer Base and it contributed to my Self esteem and Confidence as i had to Approach customers and explain to them about what i was selling .it was a balancr between Studyng to be an Internal Auditor and Promoting while learning to interact and communicate in different south african Languages with Different people.i had a good relationship with other promoters.

Excellent learning

Im currently working at Faerie Glen as a merchandiser

I am a merchandiser at Faerie Glen, my duties is to sometimes help the customers in showing the customers exactly where there is an items that they need. Packing items to the shelves.

Data integrity , communication

Out of all the years I've worked as an administrator. I've gained a lot of experience with internal data and company structures. Most of the time I'm interacting and maintaining relationships with Regional Managers, Clients, sales administrators and trouble shootings for field Managers. I'm always keen to learn new, especially with company systems. I've obtained internal certificates. There are times when the internal system is not working, as an administrator you have to capture sales on behalf of the field staff. You need to be able to multitask, focus and prioritize.

Good relationship

It's a good company, they take care of their employees and great opportunities are open like study assistance. As employess we have a good relationship as well with our management.

Great exposure

Wonderful exposure to FMCG industry and a great opportunity to learn how to manage people effectively. I manage some 40 employees which has been a really good eye opening experience

Excellent learning curve

It's a very good environment to work on, with no pressure in every thing that you do. Not so well when it comes to communication between workers and management, but in overall every is quite well
