A day in the City of Cape Town
A working day is never predictable . Always prepare for unexpected requests internal/external, My main function was administration of all new student intakes amounting to over 100 learners. My core function HR,other functions consisted of office admin and management ad-hoc requests. Challenges: lack of support from management. Completing others work, to lazy do to it themselves. Mostly I enjoyed, encouraging learners, to feel like they belong and building one-on-one relationships with my colleagues, having a different relationship with each one. Suffice to say working as a public servant is extremely challenging because it encompasses all types of backgrounds.

Security
Good employer with good benefits and job security. Excellent benefits. Good service delivery. The city of cape town always look for ways to improve client services. The organisation benefits are too flexible and allows employees to manipulate the system. These policies are often to the detriment of the staff eg. Extensive sick leave. Management are also non challenging and do not know company policies and are afraid to enforce policies. This costs the rate payers

Excellent learning curve
Punctuality is key. I worked eight hour shifts in some fairly hot weather, so I do not recommend it for the feint of heart. It does require quite a bit of manual labor and a lot of team work. inspect and repair various energy systems, such as the heating and cooling systems, lighting, and kitchen equipment. You also assist with repairing floors, and doors and installing new products, such as windows, carpets, and light fixtures.

It is ItIt is like any other company but more professional . Itr does not satisfy all te needs of the employees that is how I feel or we feel as workers sometimes. It only cares about certain individuals and race

I enjoy doing contract engagement, and co employees are so freindly and hands on.
NIts so good working for the company, because it feels nice to be part of team helping people who are struggling out there. The move from the company it's just career driven.

What you enjoy most Interacting with people from various backgrounds The most challenging aspects of the job People showing lack of interest/ or very little participation for colleagues.

Excellent learning experience
Workinworking at the city of Cape Town scientific services was a great experience for me as it was my first formal job. On a daily basisi i prepared potable and waste water sample for analysis where i analysed then as per wasterwater and drinking water standards using various instruments. I worked well with almost everyone at the branch as with any instututions thet will be clashes but worked through those too. I enjoyed the different research projects i worked at as they broadedned my knowledge and grew me a a scientist. Some of the challenges in the job were chemical shortages, procurement complications which would leave to backlogs
